Successful participation in international R&D projects: some simple tips, part 1 Always start with a clear vision of your research targets. Finding an appropriate support and/or partner is a secondary task that shall be derived solely from your research strategy. Consider carefully the programme rules, make sure that they suit your specific needs. A good telescopic strategy is to start with a simple mobility project to establish respective research contacts abroad. The latter may lead to a subsequent joint project proposal eligible for a major multi-national support scheme.
Successful participation in international R&D projects: some simple tips, part 2 Take into account that large multi-teamed grants are always more difficult to manage than simple bi-lateral cooperations. The latter often offer more flexible tools well suited especially for small- and medium-sized research projects. If you are to collaborate with external project partners, make sure that your intellectual assets are protected. Your IP-strategy should be clearly defined well before the start of the project!
