Hello Palm Beach County Chefs! By Special Invitation It s Back!! The Ultra-Exciting 4th Annual Culinary Event: The Palm Beaches Crab Cake Cook-Off for Changing The Odds Saturday, November 7th from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Lake Pavilion and Terrace, City Commons and Waterfront, West Palm Beach This premiere charitable event will highlight the crème de la crème of Palm Beach County s chefs and exhibit their culinary prowess in crafting the county s best crab cakes! Attracting a prestigious crowd of foodies, this high-profile culinary cook-off has become the anticipated event for the fall season and you do not want to miss your chance to compete! We invite you to enter a team in the 2015 Crab Cake Cook-Off. This exclusive event is a great way to promote your business as all participants will be prominently featured at the cook-off and will also have glowing profiles written about them for Community Partners website and social media pages. In addition to promoting to a perfectly targeted audience and catching the eye of the community, press and food writers, you and your team could win some extraordinary bragging rights! Most important of all, your participation in this event will help support programs that serve nearly 4,000 children and their families struggling with issues of trauma, abuse and neglect. Community Partners is Palm Beach County s expert charitable agency serving our most vulnerable children.

Since 2012, the Crab Cake Cook-Off has attracted a dozen teams, 500 guests, and raised $65,000 per year for our cause. With your help, we can reach higher goals and really Change The Odds in Palm Beach County! 2015 Rules and Information If you have any questions, please contact: Laura Wissa 561-832-2456 ljomw@yahoo.com Jaime Joshi 561-629-4297 jjoshi@cp-cto.org In this ferocious claw-to-claw competition, all contestants are required to HAVE FUN! There is no entry fee. Your participation and donation benefits children battling devastating issues related to trauma, abuse and neglect. Teams Team places are first come, first served. The first 10 teams to submit their entry form will be added to the team list of 9 competitors for 2015. One team spot is automatically reserved for our VIP Cocktail Kick-Off venue sponsor, who has the right to participate or refuse their place in the competition. If they refuse their place, the tenth team will be chosen from the order received. Each participating team is asked to give a $50 gift certificate from their business to be added into our special Crab Bucket 2015 prize auction item. A team may consist of up to three cooks or helpers. Each team member will receive complimentary soft beverages. An eight foot table space will be provided each team. Teams may decorate their tables or place business cards or flyers to promote their business. Teams provide their own ingredients; crab must be quality lump crab. All crab cakes must be freshly prepared from the chef or restaurant s original recipe. As crab is expensive, Community

Partners is grateful to Cod & Capers for providing blue crab meat at cost. Winners must provide a recipe for publication based on two pounds of crab meat. Each team must prepare approximately 450 1/4-sized crab cakes for the public tasting. Teams must bring all their own cooking utensils, cookers (must be pre-approved for City of WPB compliance), burners, pots, ladles, knives, cutting boards, gloves, sanitation buckets, etc. For safety and compliance reasons, electric cooking devices are not permitted. Teams may use the onsite catering area for cleaning their cookware. Teams may prepare crab cakes ahead of time and cook/sear on site. If they wish, teams may serve one specialty side item to guests during tasting. Community Partners will provide plates, forks and napkins for each cooking station. Tasting Each team must create 8 regular-sized crab cakes required for judging. Community Partners will supply the plates for the judging to ensure that presentation is anonymous and decisions are unbiased. The panel of judges will NOT be choosing a winner but instead making commentary about the crab cake. Their feedback is based on crab cake taste, originality, balance of crab meat, texture, sauce and presentation. The People s Choice Award will determine an overall winner. Important Event Times 4:30 p.m.: Preparations and set-up may begin 5:00 p.m.: Chef Photography 5:30 p.m.: Judging begins (in seats at 5:15) When teams check in, they will be given an approximate time to present their crab cakes and sauce for the blind tasting.
