BLOXHUB Innovating urbanization 6 WHY ARE WE HERE? The UN estimates that 3.7 billion people, around half of the world s population live in cities. There will be 6.3 billion by 2050. Global city construction over the next thirty years will equal the total built environment in urban areas on the planet today. Cities will bear the brunt of global challenges: urban poverty, inequality, pollution, water shortages, waste management and infrastructure issues. On the plus side, rapid urbanization will grow cities into new economic and political power centers in terms of economic activity, political influence and international appeal. Cities have already shown more ambition than nation states in certain fields, including climate change. Urbanization is both the problem and the solution and is certainly a business opportunity. The Danish approach to designing buildings and developing cities, based on a people-centered approach and high sustainability standards, has a lot to offer at home and abroad and BLOXHUB wants to maximize that potential.

BLOXHUB Innovating urbanization 7 To contribute to sustainable urbanization globally by developing innovative solutions bridging architecture, design, construction and digitalization. Solutions that can create growth, new businesses and increased exports. OUR MISSION HOW DO WE ACHIEVE OUR MISSION? CONNECT the interface for cross-disciplinary innovation.
