Newsletter Title IIE initiated training on Block Printing & Life Style Products and Traditional Jewellery Designing & Making IIE in association with IOCL,Guwahati Refinery has initiated a project titled Block Printing & Life Style Products and Traditional Jewellery Designing & Making from 23 rd January,2017 to 10 th March,2017 with an aim of providing self sustaining livelihood opportunities for a pool of 20 skilled women artisans who already had basic weaving skills. The artisans are trained to develop yoga mat, table mat, table runner and floor mat. With the expansion in hand printed textile market all over the world the artisans are trained on block printing on home furnishing products for the first time in IIE. IIE signed an MOU with Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL) IIE signed an MOU with Hindustan Prefab Limited(HPL), a Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation for facilitating construction of Common Facility Centres (CFCs) and Worksheds for four Clusters in North Eastern Region. Based on the MoU, agreements has been signed by different Implementing Agencies with Hindustan Prefab Limited(HPL)for setting up Common Facility Centres(CFCs) and Worksheds in augment production, productivity and quality of traditional handloom and handicraft products..this initiative is unique in the sense it uses innovative PREFAB technology which is first of kind in the North East Region.
Volume 1, Issue 1 Page 3 Interactive session on MSE-CDP Schemes An Interactive session on MSE-CDP Schemes held on 1st Feb, 17 with an objective to discuss about the new guidelines of the MSE-CDP schemes, 2016. The meeting was participated by state officials from eight North Eastern States. Sri Surendra Nath Tripathi, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, Ministry of Micro Small & Medium Enterprise interacted in details with all state officials of DC-MSME,DI-MSME, SPV members of various clusters and members of Industry organisations attending the meet. The meeting concluded with various recommendations from DC-MSME and state officials and way ahead for promoting cluster in NER.As discussed in the meeting IIE to take up work on following lines such as to draft a model guideline for cluster development for NER, implementation of one CFC in each district in collaboration with state governments, act as a technical agency for preparing DSR and DPR for the clusters etc.

MOU Signed between Rajiv Gandhi University and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Rajiv Gandhi University, the leading Central University of North Eastern India and Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) at Guwahati today. The premier organisations agreed to mutually work for developing entrepreneurship culture among the youth in the North Eastern region. The organisations agreed to work in the areas of entrepreneurship education, capacity building, conducting seminars, workshops, studies etc, and help identify avenues for entrepreneurs in the region, with special focus to Arunachal Pradesh. Page 7 Newsletter Title FINANCIAL WORKSHOP IN UMDEN, RI-BHOI UNDER MODEL VILLAGE ADOPTION PROGRAMME A one day financial workshop was conducted by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship on 2nd February, 2017 at Diwon, Umden under the Model Village Adoption Programme. The programme was an initiative to provide financial literacy, knowledge of managing bank account and the importance of regular transaction through bank account, besides, imparting knowledge on the various government financial schemes and credit facilities available to the rural weavers and artisans. All participants of the programme were cluster weavers and artisans of Umden Eri Silk Cluster. The workshop was conducted in convergence with the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank (MCAB) and the Meghalaya Rural Bank(MRB) and the it was facilitated by Smti Sinora Sohtun, Branch Manager and Sri Dominic Mynsong, Recovery Officer of MCAB, Nongpoh; and Sri Jienhonroy Warlarpih, Branch Manager MRB, Diwon. UPSTART North East Startup Challenge 2016-17 Keeping in mind the nascent startup and entrepreneurship environment in North East India as well as in consonance with the Government of India s focus on building and creating home grown startups under the Startup India, Stand up India scheme programme of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, which was announced by the Hon ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi on August 15, 2015 and subsequently launched in early January, 2016, the North East Development Foundation (NEDF) and the Digital Empowerment Foundation along with the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), an institute of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, India, and with the support of the North Eastern Finance Development Corporation (NEDFi) in association with other relevant agencies come together to organise the UPSTART North East Startup Challenge Program on January 20, 2017 at Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIEC) Campus, Guwahati. Page 9 Newsletter Title Inauguration Of Clean Energy Programme Under Oil Project URJA The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship starts the first Clean Energy Programme in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia District. Supported by Oil India Limited (OIL) under their CSR initiative Project Urja will focus on reducing Carbon Emissions by distributing Fuel Efficient Chullahs in Tea Gardens of OIL s operational areas. The project will benefit 3000 household of 6 (six) tea garden villages of upper Assam. The programme was formally inaugurated on 10 th February, 2017 in Balijan Tea Estate, Panitola, Dibrugarh which was attended by the garden officials and stakeholders of the tea community, officials from OIL India Ltd, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship(IIE) and ICCO, Guwahati. OIL has launched this one-year program with another 8 months of follow-up & monitoring with the objective of conservation of fire wood and other biomass, removal of smoke from kitchen, check on deforestation and environmental up gradation, reduction in the drudgery of women and girl children from cooking in smoky kitchen, reduction of health hazards and in cooking time and providing employment opportunities to rural people. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Shri Manoj Kumar Das (Director-IIE), Shri Satyendra Narain Singh (GM-Technical Audit)- OIL, Sri Rakesh Kumar (DGM-Technical Audit), Shri Dilip Kumar Bhuyan (DGM-Public Affairs-OIL), Dr. Sriparna B Baruah (Head-CIE-IIE), including senior officers from OIL and IIE. IIE as an implementing agency for the programme informed that the target is to cover 1000 household every 4 months and the project will not only focus on supply & installation of fuel efficient chullah in identified tea garden households but also bring sustainability and entrepreneurship development from amongst the young community members.
Skill development trainings on Bee Keeping & Honey processing and Mustard & Buck wheat OIL Jeevika project Skill development trainings on Bee Keeping & Honey processing and Mustard & Buck wheat, have been started after selection of the 400 beneficiaries ( 250 for Bee Keeping and 150 for Mustard Processing). The training programme were conducted by Bee keeping & Mustard,Buckwheat processing experts team in 3 common targeted households of the 5 proposed villages in batch wise. In each of the training programmes, the beneficiaries were trained in the following basic elements: Modern & Scientific Bee Keeping Techniques. Scientific Bee Colony arrangements. Hygienic Honey extraction procedures, etc. Modern mustard seed farming techniques. Theory classes on mustard cultivation, mustard seed, mustard oil and mustard byproducts. All season raw material storage training. Training on operation of tools and machineries. Testing and quality control training. Training through practical demonstration on production of mustard oil and mustard oil cake. Training on Packaging and Labeling.
