Town Ludbreg General information Location: The eastern part of northwestern Croatia The town area: 73,52 km² The number of residents: 9.194 Population density per square km: 124,20 Number of settlements: 13 Basic information about Ludbreg Ludbreg is the regional center of the eastern part of Varaždin County in north Croatia. Benefits for the Town are arising from a good geopolitical position, good transport links, safe road infrastructure and rich cultural heritage. Ludbreg is one of the oldest settlements in Croatia with a rich historical heritage, a 600 years old shrine, and according to the local legend "Centrum Mundi" ie, Center of the world. Ludbreg is the economic center of the northwestern part of Croatia. Its development was based on the investments in SMEs and the manufacturing sector. In order to launch significant growth trends, it is necessary to mobilize existing and potential resources with new activities that are focused on creative economy and sustainable development. Benefits of a local environment The most important activity in the economy of Ludbreg is the manufacturing industry which generates the largest share of total income with 75% and employs the largest number of employees (72%). The biggest part of the entrepreneurs is registered in trade (33% of the total number ). The top 5 industries by number of employees are: 1. manufacture of corrugated paper and paperboard and containers of paper and paperboard 2. manufacture of glues and gelatine 3. production of cooling and ventilation equipment, non-domestic 4. manufacture of other fabricated metal product 5. manufacture of other electrical equipment The main strategic objectives to be achieved in Ludbreg are developed small and medium enterprises, improved quality of life and sustainable development in all segments. Ludbreg as the economic center Business information Ludbreg has 172 companies, small and medium-sized enterprises and 188 crafts The economic structure of the City of the most common activity is the manufacturing industry with a total of 42 entrepreneurs Photo: Aleksandar Horvat Ludbreg is the economic center of the northwestern part of Croatia whose economical development is based on: - continuous investments in SMEs and crafts - mobilization of social and human capital - sustainable development Another advantage of the City's leading position is that its Entrepreneurs are the main exporters in the northwestern part of Croatia. The indicator of business success in Ludbreg is also an increase in exports by 11% in 2014. compared to year 2013. The main strategic objectives to be achieved in Ludbreg are developed SMEs, improved quality of life and sustainable development. So, in order to attract investors, Ludbreg has carried out a number of activities, such as enabling lower cost of land acquisition, exemption of payment for municipal contributions or company taxes. Within exemptions for Entrepreneurs the City issued a Decision on incentive measures for the development of Entrepreneurship which includes: 1. exemption from paying communal taxes: 25-100% (depending on the number of employees) 2. exemption of municipal contribution: 50% (depending on the number of employees) 3. tax exemption to businesses: 100% (from first to third year depending on the number of employees) Manufacturing sector brings together 15 industries and 42 registered companies with 1,556 employees Number of employees in enterprises is 2,029 Total revenues; 890.7 mil kn Total expenditures 858.1 mil kn Exports 377.9 mil kn Import 262.3 mil kn The trade balance 115.6 mil kn Average monthly net salary per employee 3.995 kn (cca. 450 ) In October 2015, there were 3,484 people employed

It includes developed and undeveloped areas intended for economic activity. The Eastern part of the Business zone consists of 2 segments: 1. Part along the state road D2 (eastern and northern of the road) has 16ha 68a 32m² the completed part of the Zone is 15ha74a 35m² the available area for Entrepreneurs is about 90a 2. Part along the state road D2 (western and southern part of the road) has 11ha 71a 65m². the completed part of the Zone is 7ha 58a 01m² the available surface intended for Entrepreneurs is about 2 hectares The main objectives are: creating jobs creating opportunities for innovative investment creating a favorable business climate in the Region encouraging the development of Small and medium enterprises overall development of local communities

The West part of the Zone The western part of the Zone has a total area of 16ha 68a 32m² and it is located along the State rode D2. It includes developed and undeveloped areas intended for economic activity. The western part of the Business zone consists of: 1. The part northern of the railway line: covers an area of 12ha 36a 12m² available area for Entrepreneurs is 10 ha 2. This is a strategic project that is beeing developed in collaboration with the Business Incubator from Koprivnica and relevant authorities on the national level. The goal is to inform and strenghten interested stakeholders about the business opportunities that are offered in Ludbreg, whether it concerns innovative technologies, craft projects, computer or related IT sciences. The goal will be achived through the activities of the Business Incubator, one of the main accelerator of economical growth in Ludbreg area.
