THE GIVING TREE: If you would like to help support the St. Margaret of Cortona Giving tree, take an ornament from the Giving Tree this weekend, purchase the item(s) specified on the ornament and return the gift to the church NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12 th, 12:30 p.m. Place the UNWRAPPED GIFT in one of the boxes located near the Giving Tree. This year the recipients of your generosity are: FAITH MISSION HOUSING: Faith Mission Housing provides transitional and permanent housing for individuals and families who have been living at the mission shelter. CHOICES: Choices provides temporary shelter for women and children who are experiencing domestic violence. IF you would like to contribute but would prefer not to shop, you are welcome to make cash donations as well, which will be given to St. Vincent DePaul to be used as needed. Place you donations in an envelope marked for the Giving Tree in the collection basket by the weekend of December 11 th & 12. The agencies will also be happy to accept donations of new gift bags that they can use. If you would like to donate gift bags please place them in the receptacle labeled Gift Bags (DECAL)CHRISTMAS FLOWERS FOR THE ALTAR: If you wish to contribute toward Christmas flowers in memory of a deceased relative or friend, you may do so by placing your donation with your name in an envelope and mark on it "Christmas Flowers." Or you may use the envelope enclosed in your monthly envelope packet. We will have a special remembrance of the deceased at the Christmas Mass. HOLY DAY DECEMBER 8 TH Wednesday, December 8 th, is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of Mary. It is a Holy Day of Obligation for all Catholics to attend Mass. Masses are on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Join us for this special celebration! DECEMBER A GOOD TIME FOR GIVING: The month of December is an excellent time for tax benefits, to give generously to the parish offertory. As this is the season of giving gifts, why not give a generous gift to your parish in the form of cash, securities, and business gifts with your employer s company? All gifts that you wish to count toward the 2010 tax year MUST BE MADE ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 31, 2010. Only gifts in the possession of the church by this date can count toward 2010 taxes. We are all called to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us, may we share generously with our parish family during this season. Thank you, as always, for your continued generosity. May God bless you! THE ST. MARGARET OF CORTONA WOMEN S CLUB will meet on Wednesday, December 1, 7:00 p.m. in Kulp Hall. THE SPIRITUAL LIFE COMMITTEE has selected the daily devotional booklet Hearts Voices for the parish meditation. The booklets have been mailed to all parishioners. If you did not receive your copy, please call the parish office, 279-1690. ST MARGARET WOMENS CLUB ANNUAL COOKIE BAKE AND EXCHANGE will be next Saturday, December 4, in Kulp Hall. We will start at 9 a.m. So bring your favorite cookie recipe and bake them at the hall, and exchange with the other women present. You will need to make at least 6 dozen cookies. MEN S CLUB SUB SALE: The Men s Club will be selling their delicious subs after all Masses next weekend, December 4.

3 WOMEN S CLUB POINSETTIA SALE date is Sunday, December 5 th after all Masses in Kulp Hall. All pre-sale orders will be available for pick up and additional plants will be available for purchase. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA: Join the St. Margaret of Cortona Knights of Columbus as we welcome Santa to Kulp Hall for breakfast! The big day will be Sunday, December 12 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Enjoy breakfast for $5 and have your picture taken with Santa for $3 (or 2 photos for $5). SCHOOL NEWS BISHOP READY STAGES A CHRISTMAS CAROL: The Bishop Ready Theatre Department is staging the John Jakes adaptation of Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol, under the direction of Ready faculty member Jill Larger. This adaptation has a twist on the traditional production, in that the author, Charles Dickens, plays a role in the play by observing the action, handling props, and helping with costume changes. The beloved story features a large cast of characters and is family-appropriate entertainment. A Christmas Carol runs Friday, December 3, 7 P.M.; Saturday, December 4, 2 P.M.; and Sunday, December 5, both 2 and 7 P.M. in the Bishop Ready Little Theatre. AROUND US NOMINATIONS FOR CATHOLIC MAN OF THE YEAR 2011 NOW BEING ACCEPTED: Each year the Catholic Men s Luncheon Club (CMLC) presents the Columbus Diocese Catholic Man of the Year award. Nominations for the award are being accepted until December 10, 2010. Please make it a priority to participate by nominating a man from the Diocese who you believe would serve as an inspiration and would strengthen all Catholic men to continue living their vocation of holiness. Nominees must be laymen, who, through their daily actions, words, and prayers, exemplify the good and faithful servant.
