The ceremony, officiated by Mr Lim Hng Kiang, Minister for Trade and Industry, signifies a new milestone for Soilbuild as the first private developer at the Fusionopolis cluster to develop a 15-storey multitenanted creative hub with sustainable green facilities. Above: Solaris, Soilbuild s flagship multitenanted development at one-north, is designed by worldrenowned architect Dato Dr Ken Yeang. The 15-storey sustainable building incorporates unique green features and is conceived as a vibrant focal point for the onenorth community through its open spaces and cascading landscaped terrace gardens. Named Solaris and designated for the research and development activities in the infocommunications, media, science and engineering industries, the 7,734 square metres site at Ayer Rajah Avenue/one-north Crescent was awarded to Soilbuild by JTC Corporation ( JTC ) under a Concept and Fixed-Price Tender just two months earlier, in April 2008. SB (Solaire) Investment Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of Soilbuild Group Holdings Ltd, will be the single-purpose vehicle to undertake the development and leasing of the landmark business park facility. Today s groundbreaking ceremony is another milestone event for the Fusionopolis cluster. The estimated Gross Floor Area of 540,000 square feet will be designed to provide a wide range of differing, functional and flexible layouts for offices and research laboratories, as well as retail operations, while the thoroughfare plaza will serve as a venue for business and social interactivity. The estimated investment for this development is about S$148 million. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr Low Soon Sim, Executive Director of Soilbuild, said, In May 2005, Soilbuild marked its first partnership with JTC when it was awarded the S$5 million Kranji Linc development, a first for a private sector developer to design and develop land-based facilities. Added Mr Low, Today, three years later, Soilbuild has made major strides and has become a leading private sector developer of business space properties in Singapore. We have secured, to date, a total of six awards under JTC s Developer Partnership Programme with a total development area of 3.3 million square feet and development value of more than S$500 million.
