Commander s Corner The Thomas Times Page 3 The holidays are behind us and a new year is upon us. I hope everyone had happy and safe holidays. I like to think we as a family have accomplished a lot in the last six months. We have made repairs and upgrades to the post; had Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for everyone, Halloween and Christmas parties for the Kids and donated toys and food to the needy in the local area. I would like to thank everyone who helped with the breakfast for Shop with a Cop; I have heard nothing but good comments from everyone. This is usually a slow time of the year for us but not this year. We have Gene Baker Commander, American Legion Post 117 Coffee with a cop, the Legions 100 th birthday, Special Olympics Poker Run, and the Department Commanders Homecoming all coming in the next two months. This has been a very busy but also a time in my life when I have been very proud of all we have accomplished as a family. I look forward to the next six months to see what else we can accomplish as a family. We are half way through our 2018-2019 year, and how blessed we have been with our members. We are fortunate to have a team of ladies that are dedicated to our veterans and our community. We welcome our new members and we always are thankful for our renewing sisters. Let s get those renewals done for 2019. We are a strong Unit and we stand together to support our veterans and one another. Volunteer and support the American Legion Auxiliary, what a wonderful program it is. Look into the future for some exciting programs that we will be introducing and promoting. Our 2 nd Vice always has something planned. Come out to our luncheon on January 13 th for our official visit with the Department President Michele DeGennaro and we present the funds we raised at our Murder Mystery party in honor of her program Final Salute along with our juniors.
