Background Dress for Success Worldwide is a global non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of women located in more than 130 cities across 17 countries. The organization began in 1996, and has grown to include 135 affiliates worldwide. Dress for Success SW Florida is one of those affiliates. Barbara Dell founded the Southwest Florida affiliate in September 2010. The affiliate is governed by a local board of directors, and is responsible for its own fiscal sustainability. However, Dress for Success SW Florida does receive guidance and program from the global organization The organization has served over 2000 disadvantaged women in Southwest Florida since its inception. The organization began in 1996, and has grown to include 135 affiliates worldwide. Dress for Success SW Florida is one of those affiliates. Barbara Dell founded the Southwest Florida affiliate in September 2010. The organization has served over 2000 disadvantaged women in Southwest Florida since its inception. When Dress for Success was founded we set out to address the catch-22 that confronts disadvantaged women trying to enter the workforce: Without a job, how can you afford a suit? But without a suit, how can you get a job? We quickly became well - known for providing suits to disadvantaged women entering, or returning to, the workforce. Today, Dress for Success of Southwest Florida has five programs to help women succeed in the workforce.
