No one will be denied participation as long as all requirements are met. By completing this application, you are committing to providing volunteers on the day of the event from your organization, a designated representative for the planning committee, a plan for how your organization wishes to be involved on the day of the event and a plan for how your organization will spend any proceeds collected from the event as a whole. If you are selling items that collect proceeds specific to your organization you are entitled to all of those monies. Brief Description of Intended Use of Proceeds Collected from Event: Dependent upon the result and final distribution of funds, the museum would designate proceeds to be used for several projects - one of which would be to refurbish the grand piano and restore it to playing condition, an appropriate endeavor given its history, original ownership by one of Safety Harbor s pioneers and subsequent donation to the museum by those descendants. Additionally, funds could be used to assist in the completion of a video that the Historic Society has recently committed to undertake and for which some funding is in place. The Centennial Folk n Fruit Fest and Games 2017 Brief The objective of the Folk n Fruit Brew Fest is in line with the Merchants of Safety Harbor s (MOSH) mission to bring traffic and awareness to the downtown district of Safety Harbor, by hosting a two day event filled with live folk musicians, including a nationally recognized artist, vendors (including folk artists, childrens activities, crafts and food), craft beer, as well as partnering with all Safety Harbor stakeholders namely the city, chamber of commerce, non profit entities and local restaurants and merchants. By bringing this new event to Safety Harbor, the local economy will be augmented and the downtown district will be introduced to an additional audience through advertising and marketing. Our goal is to create a signature Centennial Event for the whole town to be able to participate in and enjoy. Dates: Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, 19th 2017 Times: 12pm to 10pm Saturday, 12pm to 5pm Sunday Location: Waterfront Park and Marina Beneficiaries: Chamber/Foundation, Mattie Williams Foundation, Kiwanis, Paint Your Heart Out, Museum/Historical Society, Rotary, additional local non profits who apply and commit to providing volunteers and running their portion of the event if they so wish, MOSH; proceeds will come from vendor sales, beer sales and the ticketed home brew competition and food competition. Additional money will come from soliciting sponsors for the event as a whole, as well as the Centennial Games. Event Description: Throughout both days there will be live folk music acts with a headlining act beginning later in the evening on Saturday. Folk artists, as well as other arts and crafts vendors will be featured throughout both days for attendees shopping, browsing and learning experiences. Francie Rogal of Francie s Studio on 5th and Kara Tanner of Harbor Food Tours will run a children s craft tent, focusing on historical, local and folk art. The Folk n Fish Kids Kast fishing tournament will span both days as well. Two competitions highlighting our local grapefruit history will be a focus during the festival on Saturday a Craft Beer Home Brewing Competition concentrating on fruit infused craft beer with samples provided by home brewers and judged by a panel of invited local brewers; and a Food Competition with local restaurants providing samples of fruit inspired dishes and judged by local politicians, officials, and community leaders in various categories. These competitions will each be ticketed for the public and will bring in additional revenue for the beneficiaries. The ticket prices will be tiered based on numbers of samples, entrance into one or both competitions, or when purchased with a VIP ticket. Centennial Themed Portions: The Centennial Games Kim Ward of Tampa Bay Bubble Ball Soccer will create and run current and historical games throughout both days of the festival. Some of the games include Hoop & Stick, Wheelbarrow Races, 3 Legged Races and Potato Sack Races. The Centennial Tent as suggested by the Historical Society, a dedicated area to sharing Safety Harbor s rich history, complete with storytelling, period dress, artifacts and more. A firework finale or similar concept accompanied by singing Happy Birthday to Safety Harbor will end the night Saturday, and a community Tug O War game with Oldsmar across the bay will end the night Sunday. The city s Grapefruit Project is already set to attend and local artist Kumpa Tawornprom has already agreed to do an art installation highlighting our history and related to grapefruit. Additional non profit or Safety Harbor groups with interest to host a portion of the event, have a tent with Centennial related items, or produce other such items are welcome to apply and will not be turned down as long as they commit to providing volunteers and planning their piece of the event. Those organizations in turn will be eligible to receive a portion of any revenue collected as a donation to their charity as long as they provide a plan with how they intend to spend the money collected.
