Prayer for the Sick O great St. Peregrine, you have been called "The Mighty," "The Wonder- Worker," because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you. For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you, especially Fr. Than and the members of our families and Parish. Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Would you like to contribute money toward the purchase of flowers in memory of, or in honor of, your loved ones? If so, please complete the form below and return it to the Church Office with the contribution. Sign Up Form CHRISTMAS FLOWER DEDICATIONS Contribution by: Amount: $ In honor of In Memory of (Please print, as the name/names will be listed in the Bulletin) BLESSING PRAYER FOR YOUR NATIVITY SCENE The custom of displaying figures depicting the birth of Jesus Christ owes its origin to Saint Francis of Assisi who made the Christmas crèche or manger near the town of Grecio, Italy for Christmas eve in the year 1223. However, as early as the fourth century representations of the nativity of the Lord were painted as wall decorations depicting not only the infancy narrative accounts of Christ s birth, but also the words of the prophets Isaiah and Habakkuk taken to mean that the Messiah would be born in the midst of animals in a manger. Blessing Prayer: God of every nation and people, from the very beginning of creation you have made manifest your love: when our need for a Savior was great you sent your Son to be born of the Virgin Mary. To our lives he brings joy and peace, justice, mercy, and love. Lord, bless all who look upon this manger; may it remind us of the humble birth of Jesus, and raise up our thoughts to him, who is God-with-us and Savior of all, and who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
