What IBTM World is doing to continually improve year on year More appointments with the industry's best buyers In 2017, our Hosted Buyers from key markets were hosted for the entire duration of the event. This resulted in over 5,000 additional appointment slots becoming available with these buyers. This year we are continuing to ensure our buyers commit to 3 additional appointments per day of attendance. Our buyer quality is always improving We have already targeted and pre-qualified the top and upcoming event planners within the industry. In order to attend as a Hosted Buyer a personal invitation is required to be able to register for our Hosted Buyer Programme. Our Hosted Buyer quality is strictly vetted with the use of supplier references and does not rely on past/future event details. The buyers not known to us, are required to provide evidence that they actively purchase meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions services on a regular basis including the details of three bookings through supplier references. Significantly more new buyers in 2018 Our aim is to grow our new buyers overall by 44%. The new buyer presence also includes a 16% rise in buyers from the Asia Pacific region and 23% additional buyers from the United States due to high demand in these regions. 27% of our Hosted Buyers will be Corporate and Association buyers Through new partnerships and existing key partners, we are continuing to ensure a really strong representation of Corporate and Association buyers. A tailored Association programme will feature within the show floor Knowledge Programme to attract high calibre Association Buyers to the show. Changes to our diary appointment system We are continually improving our systems and a key focus is the online diary and appointment matching system. You will also see further information with the self-select appointment tool this year which will make the online diary easier to use.

We provide a wealth of tools and features for exhibitors to build attractive and powerful profiles to attract the right buyers during the preference process. These include the option to add product showcases, case studies, presentations, videos, press releases, and digital profiles from social media platforms. There are numerous additional sponsorship and promotional opportunities available to ensure visibility with buyers during the preference and self-select phases of appointment making. Selecting your appointments (open from 4 th to 26 th October 2018) From the 4 th October 2018, you ll be able to select 45 preferred buyers who you would like to meet with at IBTM World 2018. Preferences are open until 26 th October. You ll also be able to view the Hosted Buyers who have indicated a preference to meet with you, selecting buyers from this list gives you a better chance of a meeting being scheduled. There is also the opportunity to flag up to five buyers on this list to exclude meeting with. Appointment matching (29 th October) Your online company profile and your appointment preferences will be used to match you with as many relevant buyers as possible so please make sure that your profile is complete and accurate. Your online diary will be available on 6 th November and you ll be able to view your confirmed appointments.
Key information The self-select appointment tool (available 6 th to 20 th November 2018) From the 6 th of November, you ll be able to see your confirmed appointments. You can then use the self-select appointment tool to add further appointments to your diary. This tool allows you to send appointment requests to individual buyers where the buyer can then accept or decline. The Hosted Buyer has 72 hours to accept or decline. From 6 th November, Hosted Buyers also have the option of using the appointment tool. You will be requested by buyers for appointments. These appointment requests will where possible be automatically scheduled in your diary, but you ll be able to decline based on relevance. The Exploratory Zone (previously the Innovation Zone) Feedback from our buyers, visitors and exhibitors has shown there is a significant interest in technology and innovation that support change and development across the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry. In a decision to continually improve the experience of IBTM World for our customers, we have shifted The Exploratory Zone to the centre of the show to enhance visibility and access to the platform for our attendees. The Global Village re-imagined The Global Village which showcases the industry s leading international hotel groups and DMC networks has been given an enhanced space to the west end of the show adjacent to the Knowledge Village. This is a very busy section of the show which attracts high volumes of traffic and the increased space will make for a better experience for attendees and ensure a more even flow of traffic throughout the show floor. Keynote speakers driving traffic to the show floor This year, IBTM World will feature three keynotes speakers driving high traffic to the show floor each morning of the event. Last year, more than 500 visitors attended our keynote sessions each morning. Event access opens at 8.45AM for visitors to allow for the keynote session at 09.00 each day so please be prepared that you may need to be in the hall earlier to set up. Coaches We welcome exhibitors to use our coaches to and from the venue across the three days of IBTM World.
What s On Welcome Reception When: Tuesday 27 th November 18.00-21.00 Where: Fira Barcelona (venue of IBTM World) What: The Welcome Reception is open to everyone and concludes Day One of the show. It will be held in the Fira de Barcelona, the venue of IBTM World, and is attended by all visitors. This is an excellent opportunity for exhibitors to network with our buyers and trade visitors. Networking Hour When: Wednesday 28 th November 18.00-19.00 Where: Exhibitor stands, on the show floor What: Exhibitors have the opportunity to entertain buyers and attendees on their stands with various activities including music, food, drinks, performances, musicians etc. and anything to promote themselves to buyers. Club Night When: Wednesday 28 th November 22.00-02.00 Where: Opium Mar What: Dance the night away during Club night in one of the most soughtafter nightclubs in Barcelona!
