The online modules are offered as a self-paced online learning experience to provide students with a strong introduction to the field of public health. The foundational knowledge presented is necessary to master the content in the entire MPH curriculum. The in-class portion of the course will provide new MPH students with an overview of the fundamentals of public health leadership and management. The course uses a systems thinking lens, which teaches students to look at public health issues from a broad holistic perspective. Students will be taught to recognize adaptive challenges and to apply principles of adaptive leadership to address public health issues. Students will be introduced to effective management theory and principles. Health Behavior and Health Education PHS 504 Hosig Behavioral and social science theories utilized in health promotion programs, predominantly in the design, implementation and general practice procedures that encompass the field. Provides students with a foundation for understanding health behavior change within a population or community of interest, as well as providing the means for understanding the connections that exist between behavior and health. Understanding health behavior will be aided by addressing constructs and concepts that shape health behavior, including intrapersonal factors, interpersonal factors, cultural and community factors, and society as a whole.
