STUDENT ACADEMIC TRAVEL GRANT Application Deadlines: November 30 for travel between July 1 and November 30 (notified by 2 nd week of December) April 30 for travel between December 1 and April 30 (notified by 2 nd week of May) NOTE: Application Deadlines are due the following business day if the above due date falls on a weekend. Travel between May 1 and June 30 will not be eligible for funding. The Office of Student Life and Development (SLD) is pleased to offer the Student Academic Travel Grant. The grant is available for currently enrolled CSULB students wishing to grow in their academic discipline by presenting an academic paper/research or a poster presentation at a professional academic conference, workshop, seminar, and/or lecture. The SLD Student Academic Travel Grant aims to supplement the cost of travel to an academic conference. The grant recipient may use the funds for reimbursement of their conference registration, transportation, lodging, and/or membership (only if required to present) fees. Students presenting an academic paper/research are eligible to receive up to $400.00 while students conducting poster presentations are eligible to receive up to $300.00. Please allow 6-8 weeks for reimbursement if awarded funding. For additional, possible funding resources, please contact your academic college and department. Students are also encouraged to apply for the Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Student Travel Fund by visiting this link and logging in with your Campus ID Number and MyCSULB password: https://csulb.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/form/start/209306 Eligibility Be enrolled as a current CSULB student at the time of application submission AND the semester the academic travel is requested. Students enrolled through the College of Continuing Profession and Education (CCPE) are not eligible. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in 12 units and possess a minimum CUM GPA of 2.0 at time of application. Graduate students must be enrolled in 9 units and possess a minimum CUM GPA of 3.0 at time of application. The SLD Student Academic Travel Grant may be awarded to a student only once as an undergraduate, and only once as a graduate. STUDENT ACADEMIC TRAVEL GRANT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE SUBMIT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. Student Academic Travel Grant Application: Complete and submit the Student Academic Travel Grant AFTER you have traveled. Be sure to attach the materials listed below in numbers 2 to 7 with your application. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. 2. Letter of Acceptance: The Letter of Acceptance (LoA) must clearly show that you were invited to present an academic paper/research or poster presentation at the conference. Please attach an explanation as to why the LoA does not bare your name in the event the LoA was addressed to a faculty member or another student. 3. Name Badge: Your Name Badge must display your full name as well as the name of the conference. You will be required to submit something that proves you were at the conference if you do not have a Name Badge. Photographs of you at the conference, conference souvenirs, brochures, newsletters are all acceptable forms of attendance verification. 4. Itinerary and/or Driving Directions: Please provide a copy of your travel itinerary if you flew. Submit a copy of your driving directions using Google Maps, MapQuest, etc. including the mileage if you drove your personal vehicle. Provide a receipt of payment if you rented a vehicle. Mileage for rental vehicles cannot be claimed. 5. Research Paper Abstract or Poster Presentation: Submit a printout or photocopy of your research paper abstract or poster presentation. 6. Itemized Budget of Expenses form: Complete and submit the budget form on page 4 of this application. 7. Receipts and Invoices: Please submit all receipts/invoices for any expenses listed on the Itemized Budget of Expenses by taping them to only one side of an 8.5 X 11 sheet of white paper(s). All receipts must be turned in by November 30 for travel between July 1 and November 30 and April 30 for travel between December 1 and April 30.
