Youth & Religious Leadership TOGETHER Discerning in Missionary Discipleship 2018 NATIONAL ASSEMBLY #CMSM2018 Conference of Major Superiors of Men July 31-August 3, 2018 St. Louis, Missouri

WELCOME TO ST. LOUIS! On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Conference of Major Superiors of Men, welcome to our National Assembly! This year, the Assembly will anticipate the upcoming Synod on Young People, under the theme, Youth and Religious Leaders Together: Discernment in Missionary Discipleship. We welcome vocation personnel, and those in ministry with youth and young adults, who are joining us this year. Through engaging speakers and lively discussion, we will explore how we, as religious, may help youth and young adults discover their plan for life through vocational discernment, and with joy and openness to God and participation in our Church and world. NATIONAL ASSEMBLY 2018 Sheraton Westport Chalet Hotel 191 Westport Plaza St. Louis, Missouri 63146 WI-FI Free wi-fi is available in public areas of the hotel, such as the lobby, and in guest rooms for members of the free SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) program. MEALS Registration includes the opening reception, breakfasts, morning and afternoon coffee breaks, Wednesday luncheon, and Thursday social and banquet. In a special way, I invite you to join me in welcoming our plenary speakers. Most Reverend David Konderla, Bishop of Tulsa, will share insights not only from his episcopal ministry, but from his prior roles as vocation director, and as pastor and campus minister in the Diocese of Austin. Curtis Martin started FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) at Benedictine College in 1998. Today, this ministry has 660 trained evangelizers on 137 campuses in four nations dedicated to sharing the hope and joy of the Gospel with college and university students through one-on-one discipleship. On Wednesday evening, you are invited to participate in a special racial justice immersion experience. We will travel to a Redemptorist parish near downtown St. Louis to meet with local Catholic and Baptist clergy and young people impacted by racial tension in their communities. We will listen, dialogue and pray together. On Thursday evening, we will honor Kathleen McChesney for her dedication to the protection of young people in our Church and on Friday, we will enjoy an engaging town-hall with experts and young adults, followed by Mass celebrated by St. Louis Archbishop Robert J. Carlson, whose staff has provided invaluable assistance for our Assembly. Thank you for being here. Enjoy! ROOM CHECKOUT Check out is 12 noon.
