Come in and see who will represent you and your post this coming year. Post 113 installations were held on Friday evening, June 15 th, for all four units of Rotonda West Post 113. We were honored to have the full line of district officers here. Barbara Field, District President, was here to perform the duties of installing our women of the Auxiliary. We had Ernest Sheffied, District 8 Commander of the Son's to install the officers of our SAL. The Legion Riders were honored to have Terry Gallagher, Director of District 8 Riders, to install our Rider s officers. Of course, our own Jerry Faught, is the 8th District Commander of the American Legion. We were also honored to have, past Southwestern Area Commander,
Doug Deierlein, to install our Post Officers. A great job was done by all. The officers were charged with their duties for the coming year and the membership was reminded they are to support the officers, of their choice, by helping the post whenever called upon to do so. Like many posts our membership is the most important item we have to achieve each year. You can help reach our objective by telling a friend about your post and the fun you have on any night you visit with us. This year would be a real treat if we could start on membership early and reach the 100% goal. Let's show how important Rotonda West, American Legion Post 113, is to its members and to the community. Don't be shy, if you have an idea about something needed at your post, please tell or write it down and give it to our House Manager, Tina Brown, or any officer. Let s work together to make our Post better for all to enjoy. From the Adjutant Royce Tyler This year s annual Convention will be in Orlando, beginning July 5 th. This is the 100 th anniversary for the founding of the American Legion. Membership has been declared to be a major focus for all Posts. Our objective is for each of us to enlist one new member or to have one individual to transfer into Post 113 during the year. We did not meet our membership objective during the past year. I am confident that by working together we can achieve 100% new membership in 2018. The meeting times for all of the Legion s monthly meetings will be posted in the lounge, and on the TV. These include the General Meeting; the Executive; the Auxiliary; the Auxiliary Ways and Means Committee; the S.A.L.; and the Riders. Please check the TV as the times change occasionally. We (the Post) have a program called Constant Contact. If you have any inputs you would like sent out, please submit to a respective officer of the Post, Auxiliary, SAL, or Riders. Once reviewed and approved by respective officers, your message will be forwarded to the Webmaster for posting. This program reaches all of our members that have given their email addresses, and can become a great tool for the entire membership. The Post also has a Suggestion Box available to the members of the Post. All suggestions must be dated and signed, before the house committee will consider them. Chaplain s Message Phil Kolbe I am sorry to report that Charles Wolfe passed away during this last month. Please say a prayer for him and remember him with honor. Editor s Notes John Devore This is your Post newsletter. It is your responsibility to contribute articles that you wish to see included. All articles must be sent to our Sound Off Editor, John Devore, carlsbadjohn@yahoo.com, before the 15 th of each month, to be included in the next issue.
From the Auxiliary Barbara Horosky From the Riders Bill Vanderbilt As I m sure you are aware, we can still use volunteers for our extra-curricular events, such as bus trips, special events, and weekly on-going activities. Step up and be counted; it is your Post, your membership, and your suggestions that make us special. There will be no monthly Bingo during the summer months. Monthly Bingo will return in September. Have a great summer, and we ll see you at the Post. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND AMERICA Poker Run was very successful on June 2nd. We collected 90 pair of shoes for kids and young adults. There will be no more meetings during the summer. See you all in September. From the SAL Eric Stefanik This is your son Eric Stefanik commander of the SAL. A great year is ahead of us. It is with renewed spirit that we embark on this great adventure here at Squadron Post 113. Although the weather is HOT outside and there are few of us here, it is always cool inside the Post and the few of us that are here can make the noise of a thousand. With your voices we can be even louder and make this the best year ever. It is only with everyone being loud that we can make all of our events and projects a success. House Manager Tina Brown There are some changes coming, and hopefully they will be well received by all. To start with, Eric Stefanik will be providing music and entertainment every Monday evening from 6:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Come in, have a cocktail, shake your booty on the dance floor, and have a great time. That entertainment will continue for your enjoyment throughout the month with different events scheduled on a regular basis. See the monthly calendar for more specifics.
