But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:13-16 Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes I am the Immaculate Conception February 11, 2014 Oh ever immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfortess of the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings. Look upon me with mercy. When you appeared in the grotto of Lourdes, you made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favors, and where many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities, both spiritual and corporal. I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession. My loving Mother, obtain my request. I will try to imitate your virtues so that I may one day share your company and bless you in eternity. Amen Vision Statement St. Aloysius Parish is a vibrant community of peace, love and unity as the living body of Christ. February 9, 2014 Mission Statement St. Aloysius Parish embraces and nurtures all, inspiring each to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly in the love of God. 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

PURSUING A DYNAMIC FAITH LIFE THROUGH STEWARDSHIP: Generosity as a path to happiness Here at St. Aloysius Parish, we believe that Stewardship is transformative. We believe that Stewardship changes the way we look at everything in our lives. Stewardship becomes a total way of life. But what does Total Stewardship really mean to us? We understand that everything we have in our lives is a gift from God and that we do not really own anything, but rather we are appointed by God to be his stewards on earth. To be a steward of God is to carefully and responsibly manage something entrusted into one s care, in this instance, all of the many gifts He has given to us. In his book, The Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic, author Matthew Kelly tells us that God is by his very nature generous. God wants to convince us of his generosity, and in turn wants us to live generous lives.god wants us to be good stewards of our time, talent, and treasure. Do we take time to pray? Are we using our talents to create the most good for the most people? Do we guard our possessions and money God has entrusted with, or are we grateful to God and generous to others? In Deuteronomy 26:1-4, God asks us to tithe some of the first portion of our treasure to Him. What do you think we could accomplish if everyone at St. Aloysius tithed a first portion to the Church? Could we transform our community? We could construct buildings for our programs without having a capital campaign. We could help the poor in more ways than we currently can. In some Dioceses with Total Stewardship, tuition for children is paid through tithing by all parishioners. During the next two weeks, you should receive your Aloysius Alive and your letter from Fr.Than asking you to consider your stewardship in an intentional way for the next year. A commitment card and a Bank Auto draft form are included in your packet from Fr.Than. We ask you to prayerfully reflect upon your Stewardship of Offering. During each mass on February 15 and 16, you will hear from fellow parishioners reflecting on how stewardship of offering and being generous enhances their spiritual lives and makes them happy. Then on February 22 and 23, you will be asked for your commitment to our 2014 Stewardship of Offering Campaign. You may place your commitment card in the collection at Mass or you may mail it to the parish office. Be Dynamic, Be Generous. February 8-14, 2014 Mass Schedule Saturday 8:00 a.m. Chapel 4:30 p.m. Sunday 7:00, 9:00, 11:00 a.m. & 5:30 p.m. Monday 6:00 a.m. Chapel Tuesday 8:00 a.m. Wednesday 6:00 a.m. Thursday 8:00 a.m. Friday 8:00 a.m. The Sacraments RECONCILIATION Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and by appointment for private rite. Small Christian Communities (SCC), Come Lord Jesus groups, Ignatian studies and Rosary groups are an important part of spiritual growth which compose Small Faith Groups. If there is sufficient interest, perhaps the Dynamic Catholic book could also serve as a Taste and See offering during Lent for those who miss the current offering! We would like to expand the number of Small Faith Groups in St. Aloysius to allow more people to experience this opportunity. Our goal is 20 new groups signed up by Lent 2014. If you are interested in leading a Lenten group, please contact: Jan Herrington (janh@positive-results.net/ 225-939- 6101) or Jane Sherman (jane@geauxshermans.com) to let us know. We will need to know: (1) Your name, e-mail and best phone to reach you by; (2) Day of week and time you wish to host group; (3) Site you expect to use for your group meeting; (4) Title of Group (Quest/Scripture/Come Lord Jesus/ Rosary, Parenting, Little Rock Class, Dynamic Catholic Class, etc.) (5) Is this an existing group opening for Lent only or a new group (let us know if your existing group is open to long-term new member(s). We are looking for people willing to facilitate a short introductory Small Faith Group as a taste and see during Lent. (1 hour per week, up to 5 weeks, during Lent) For those interested, there will be a short 30 minute training meeting for facilitators following the 11:00 a.m. February 16 Mass in the Parish Hall. Materials on a wide variety of subjects and formats will be provided for facilitators if needed. If the attendees enjoy the experience, they can begin their own group. (This can be instead of their regular attendance or in addition to their own group.) Let me know if you know someone who would like to be a part of a new group too. Please contact Jan or Jane, ideally this week, if you would like to lead a group. Thank you! February 9, 2014 3 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Though we only have projects twice a year, it is a big help in getting landscaping and other projects to make our campus more attractive done at a much reduced cost. No skill is required, just the ability and desire to work. Most of the time, these projects are done on Saturday mornings for three to four hours. We have a project coming up soon, Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The project is to replace the plants on either side of the School Administration Office and repair the irrigation system there. We would love for you to participate with us. Please meet us in front of the KC House at 9:00 a.m., if you are interested. If we have enough people we will also do some work on the playground. In the spring we will work on perhaps installing benches for the church grounds and replacing some of the plants around the church and convent. So as you see we work where we see the greatest need. Handy Helpers gives you a chance to donate your time and muscle to your church and school. If this is for you, please sign up for Handy Helpers and for any questions email Ross McCalip at rmccalip@aloysius.org. Watch for More Details! February 9, 2014 7 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
