Mt. Airy Business Improvement District Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program Today's business and property owners face similar challenges. While business owners strive to attract both new and returning customers, property owners seek to attract tenants and command fair rents with limited turnover. Property owners, business owners, as well as the community-at-large all benefit from a vibrant commercial corridor. While business owners understand the importance of investing in marketing and the internal appearance of their property, too often they neglect the exterior appearance even though research shows that the exterior of a building and its surrounding properties greatly impacts the readiness of consumers to bring their hard-earned dollars to a commercial corridor. In order to strengthen the commercial corridor and support business and property owners, the Mt. Airy Business Improvement District (BID), since its inception, has offered a matching grant program for businesses and property owners to make improvements to their building s façade. The Mt. Airy BID invites you to participate in this vital community program in 2018. Program Guidelines: The Mt. Airy BID s Façade Improvement Matching Grant Program will reimburse property owners up to $1,000 towards the cost of improving their façade. This program is a one-to-one match with a maximum reimbursement of $1,000. For example: If the total cost of the improvement is $800, the Mt. Airy BID will reimburse $400 of the total cost. If the total cost of the improvement is $2,500, the Mt. Airy BID will reimburse $1,000. The BID s Façade Improvement Matching Grant may also be used in tandem with the City of Philadelphia s Storefront Improvement Program (SIP), sponsored by the Commerce Department, with the Mt. Airy BID providing up to $1,000 towards the business owner s portion of the SIP program. This would allow a business owner to be awarded up to $2,000 from the city, as follows: Business owner invests $2,000, of which $1,000 is reimbursed by the Mt. Airy BID, in order to seek $2,000 from the city s Commerce Department. (Projects seeking SIP support must comply with SIP guidelines) Page 1 of 5
