A publication of the Friends of the Tyler Public Library The holidays are upon us and you know what that means: shopping. Christmas and other religious observances all have shopping in common, whether you re shopping for family, friends or simply yourself. The easiest some even say the cheapest way to go about shopping nowadays is to buy online. Amazon is the leading website in sales, discount and all around great prices. With just a click, you can choose to support the Friends of the Tyler Public Library with every purchase you make on Amazon using Amazon Smile. How do you do this? It s easy. Instead of going straight to Amazon, use this instead: smile.amazon.com. Once you log in, it ll prompt you to pick an organization to support. From there, you just type in Friends of the Tyler Public Library. Doing this allows Amazon to donate 0.5% of your purchase to our fund. This doesn t seem like much, but believe us, every little bit counts. This fund is always active so you can help make a difference in your Library anytime.

At the end of the month, we ll take everything we ve collected and send them out. We will also provide materials for people who would like to write, a letter. If you don t know what to write then try drawing a picture instead. Copies of this form will be at the information desk for anyone to take and write a letter. Unlined version for anyone who would like to draw a picture or write more without the restriction of lines.

As of October, a new policy for membership was enacted nonresidents (patrons who live outside Tyler city limits). In the past, non-residents paid a $1 per item borrowing fee via punch cards. The new membership is much simpler. Non-residents can pay $10 for a month of membership, $50 for a six-month membership or $90 for a one-year membership. Memberships allow non-residents the same borrowing privileges as residents. The library is now accepting donations for the following items: sewing machines, quilting fabrics, tea cups and saucers, and mason jars. Please feel free to donate these items the next time you come in. These items will be used for program activities. The Library appreciates your donations.

Don t forget about our new game section! The game section is located on the first floor past New Books. Did you know that the Library offers this service? For people with a Kindle, Nook or even a smart phone, you can check out and read books on your device. Ask the information desk for more information about the Overdrive system. If our Library doesn t have a book you re looking for, come to the information desk and request an Interlibrary Loan. Please note that we no longer do music, audiobooks or DVD ILL s.
