Our Community Headwaters Health Care Centre is located in one of the fastest growing communities in the province, attracting a mix of young families and seniors. The population of Dufferin-Caledon is growing faster than the provincial average.
The population of 50 years and older is increasing more rapidly than any other age group; many are living alone as they age. It is for these reasons Headwaters must keep pace with the ever-increasing demand for programs and services.
Headwaters Health Care Foundation is the fundraising arm of Headwaters Health Care Centre. The Foundation raises funds for medical equipment, infrastructure and continuing education through encouraging and celebrating philanthropy in our community from individuals, businesses, service clubs, community groups and our hospital family.
Our Vision: Grow, inspire, motivate and nurture relationships with donors now and in the future. Our Mission: To advance and enhance Headwaters Health Care Centre s capacity to provide patient-centred, compassionate care to our community.
Preparing for the Future In an ongoing commitment to provide the best medical care and most comprehensive programs to our community, over the next 3-5 years, Headwaters will expand existing inpatient and outpatient services, replace aging equipment and add new specialties.
Over the next 5 years, Headwaters will invest within three distinct areas: Annual Equipment Needs $7.5 million ($1.5 million/year) Capital Equipment Big Ticket Items $3 million Capital Expansion of the Ambulatory Care Unit $3.5 million
Annual Equipment Needs $7.5 million The government does not provide funding for most hospital equipment purchases. Every piece of equipment used to care for patients every wheelchair, surgical instrument, bed side monitor, ultrasound machine is purchased through the generosity of donors. Annually the hospital invests approximately $1.5 million in new equipment to improve patient care and add new services.
Capital Equipment Big Ticket Items $3 million Having state-of-the-art equipment available is an essential component of attracting and retaining excellent physicians, specialists and other health care providers to our community and ensuring the highest standard of patientcentred care for all residents. Anaesthetic Machine Big Ticket equipment items are defined as specialized equipment with extraordinary costs often $100,000 or more. Cart Washer
Capital Expansion of the Ambulatory Care Unit $3.5 million The expansion of the current Ambulatory Care Unit facilities will create the capacity for additional procedure rooms and expanded outpatient clinics, including essential clinics such as chemotherapy and urology. The addition of a fourth operating room will allow the hospital to increase surgical capacity for programs such as orthopaedic surgery.
Community Impact These investments in capital equipment and infrastructure will further enhance Headwaters ability to recruit and retain physicians, nurses and highly trained medical professionals to provide a full array of medical services to the residents of Dufferin-Caledon within our home-community.
Words cannot express my appreciation to the compassionate and committed staff at Headwaters. My mother was treated by the Headwaters nursing staff with respect, consideration, and tender loving care. Somehow, while still meeting all the demands placed on them, they found time to reach out to me with comfort and empathy. The reason Headwaters is a facility of such excellence is because of the professional, yet compassionate staff who do not hesitate to go the extra mile to meet the needs of both their patients and the family of the patients.
