Healthy Living and Active Ageing KIC The new KIC is a part of EIT s contribution to general objectives of Horizon 2020 EU s new framework programme for research and innovation, during 2014-2020; Healthy Living and Active Ageing is a key strategic objective HLAA KIC will work alongside three existing KICs ( Climate- KIC ; ICT Labs ; InnoEnergy ; started operating in 2010) ; One other KIC during 2014: Raw Materials ; Two more in 2016 ( Food4Future, and Added Value Manufacturing ) and fifth one in 2018 ( Urban mobility ).

EIT Healthy Living and Active Ageing KIC The single largest PPP for innovation in healthy living and active ageing 4

Why Healthy Living and Active Ageing? Health will be a major international business as national GDP commitments to health grow around the world. Ageing is largest single social and demographic change. The OneMoreLife approach treats this as a wide life long social challenge, not just a medical problem of old age UK Government committed to health care business expansion (both NHS based and private sector), in Innovation, Health and Wealth this is seen as key growth area for UK economy

The goals for the 2014 KIC Innovation for Healthy Living and Active Ageing Improve the quality of life of European citizens of all ages and maintain economic sustainability of the health and social care systems This is in the face of increasing costs, shrinking human resources and citizens expectations for the best care possible.
