Healthy snacks are provided; each child will need to bring his or her own lunch. Please register in advance for future dates. Registration continues this week Extended Care accommodates parents who are unable to pickup their children from the After-School program by 5:30 p.m. Offered as a 3-week pilot program, children now have the option of participating in supervised activities with a counselor until 6:15 p.m. with a 15-minute grace period lasting until 6:30 p.m. Registration is offered on a weekly basis. Please stop by the front desk for more information. Session II: November 17, 18, 19, 20 A new approach to swim lessons: group lessons based around the swimming abilities of your child. The program operates every school day from 2:15 p.m. 5:30 p.m. Middle-school students must have a signed release form to utilize the weight room with a supervising counselor. This membership can be upgraded to a family membership for an additional $50. Practices for both teams are Thursday evenings A non-competitive cheerleading program available to enthusiastic and energetic children in grades K thru 5. Participants will cheer during Saturday Youth Basketball games at the Recreation Center. Participants are divided by age into two teams. The program runs from late November thru February 14 th. Volunteer coaching opportunities are available! Registration continues until Sunday, November 23 rd A fun way to stay fit this fall for children in grades K thru 8! Participants will learn basketball fundamentals and teamwork while making new friends. Players are divided by age and skill level. Games are held Saturdays at the Recreation Center. The program runs from late November thru February 14 th. Volunteer coaching opportunities are available! Games begin Thursday, December 4 th at the ball fields Youth Flag Football offers participants a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. Private swim lessons are scheduled on an individual basis by the Recreation Department s Aquatics Staff. * Saturday, December 6 th from 9:30 a.m. 4 p.m. at the Recreation Center Become a certified water fitness instructor in the United States Water Fitness Association s comprehensive course! Class graduates are certified for three years and also receive a three-year USWFA membership. Please register prior to November 15 th to allow time for studying and completing all required written work. Registration forms are available on the USWFA website, www.uswfa.com. WAIST MANAGEMENT HEALTHY FOOD MEET WII SPORTS BOWLING LEAGUE ALL-LEVEL YOGA HOLIDAY BAZAAR OUT TO LUNCH BUNCH Fridays at Noon at the Senior Center Eileen Kehoe and Sandi McDougall facilitate an information session discussing food selection to promote health and wellness. Through mutual support, attendees discover alternative food options to meet personal goals and maintain a healthier lifestyle. Second Fall Season continues this week Team up with fellow Island Seniors and experience virtual bowling on Nintendo s latest video game system, the Wii. Four teams compete throughout the week to win prizes. Register in person at the Senior Center, 2401 Library Way. Thursdays at 10 a.m. at the Senior Center Learn Yoga techniques safely by attending this all-level class. Taught by Dr. Susan Pataky, instruction focuses on basic alignment principles, breathing techniques and relaxation. All ages are welcome to attend Senior Center yoga classes.
