INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & INSTITUTIONAL PLANNING GOVERNANCE WORKING GROUPS OVERVIEW & MEMBERSHIP 2018-2019

2 PRESIDENT S CABINET ON IT GOVERNANCE The President s Cabinet will oversee the strategic direction for technology as well as the priorities and the funding the associated initiatives. The President s Cabinet will also provide recommendations on the establishment of the working groups and the charter for those working groups. Each working group is co-chaired by a representative from the division of Information Technology & Institutional Planning and a representative from outside the division. Assignments to the IT working groups shall be made through divisions Vice President, the Faculty Senate, and ASI. IT GOVERNANCE WORKING GROUPS The purpose of the IT Governance Working Group Committees is to provide recommendations to the Vice President/CIO for Information Technology & Institutional Planning. There are 6 Working Groups: Accessible Technology Initiative Administrative Technology Communication Technology Information Security Infrastructure Technology Instructional Technology

3 ACCESSIBLE TECHNOLOGY WORKING GROUP The Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) Working Group is responsible via the CSU s Executive Order 1111 for reviewing and assessing the campus accessibility of information technology and resources in compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. This group prepares and monitors plans for meeting Section 508 and CSU guidelines. This group will provide recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology for ensuring CPP s compliance with Section 508 and Executive Order 1111. All Divisions are represented as well as members of the faculty, ASI, and the Foundation. The administrative enterprise applications include the Student Information Systems and related applications, University Data Initiatives, and Document Management and other initiatives. This group will provide recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology on major initiatives that impact campus wide applications and systems. 4 COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY WORKING GROUP The Communication Technology Working Group serves as a recommending body and is charged with providing advice and recommendations to guide the development and use of Cal Poly Pomona s primary technology focused communications environments including the use of mobile technologies such as SMS and push notifications, the campus web site, mobile apps, campus portal, and related technologies. The group does not oversee the look and feel of the communication technologies but will oversee the priorities, policies, guidelines and associated use. This group will provide recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology on priorities, general policies and procedures associated with Communication technologies. All Divisions are represented as well as faculty, ASI and University Foundation. This group will provide recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology regarding procedures and policy. This group also assists with responding to related security events and provides recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology on the response to those events. 5 INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNOLOGY WORKING GROUP The Infrastructure Technology Working Group focuses on assessing operational technologies that are campus wide and their potential benefit in the Cal Poly Pomona environment. These campus wide technologies include networking and wireless, email, campus storage, and other core related services. This group assesses targeted campus wide technologies and provides recommendations for the deployment of these technologies, or may provide recommendations for further feasibility assessment. This group will provide recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology regarding campus wide technologies and their use. This group will also make recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology for technology spending associated with wireless and networking in regards to the Student Success Fee. Participants include faculty, staff, students and campus technical representatives. This group will provide recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology on improving the use of instructional technologies for use in classrooms and computing. This group will also make recommendations to the VP/CIO for Information Technology for technology spending for classrooms and computing laboratories associated with the Student Success Fee.
