There will be a quick overview of the Accreditation Self-Study Report and an opportunity to ask questions. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED!!! Your meal ticket is this Newsletter. Accreditation is HERE!!! The 2006 Accreditation Site Visit is upon us. The site team will be our guests from March 20 th 23 rd. So that you are able to make them feel welcome and at home we have included a picture of each team member as well as the campus they are visiting us from. When you see them on campus, please say hello and if they need assistance, please What is Accreditation? Accreditation is a status granted to an educational institution that has been found to meet or exceed stated criteria of educational quality. Accreditation has two fundamental purposes: 1. to assure the quality of the institution; and Student Services Center (SSC) show them the Cougar Spirit and assist them with a smile!!! They will housed on 3rd floor of SSC. 2. to assist in the improvement of the institution Accreditation of an institution by an institutional accrediting body certifies to the general public that the institution: has appropriate purposes. In case you have not had an opportunity to see our Self-Study Report, you can go online to www.lasc.edu to view the entire report or visit the library or the President s Office to review the report. The Accreditation Steering Committee and the subcommittees have worked very hard on the report and it shows! Our Visiting Team Members VOLUME 2, NUMBER 1 The team members are volunteers from other member colleges of the WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) / ACCJC (Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges) who have agreed to come and substantiate the conclusions reached in our self-study report. Chaired by Dr. Thomas Crow and team chair assistant by Mr. Tony Cantu, they have worked extremely hard to assist our college during this process. Please welcome them and make them feel at home.
