Slide No. 2 What is a Sub-grant scheme Sub-granting is an indirect financial contribution through an EC grant Beneficiary to a sub-grant beneficiary for an action intended helping to achieve an objective of the EC grant contract.

Slide No. 3 The case of FI-ADOPT (1) The FI-ADOPT accelerator promoted the use, adoption and take up of the European Commission's Future Internet Public-Private Partnership Programme (FI-PPP) Core Platform, the FI-WARE (www.fi-ware.org) technologies and assets. The project run between July 2014 and June 2016 and provided financial, technological and business/market uptake support to SMEs and web entrepreneurs to develop highly innovative applications in the areas 1) corporate and citizen s learning/training 2) healthy behaviour and wellbeing shaping 3) social cultural integration

Slide No. 5 FI-ADOPT Sub-grantees Achievements (1) Statics in the top 5 FI-ADOPT companies Users (B2C market): From 22.3K registered users to 950K users (420K in activities related to FI-ADOPT). The top 3 companies: Leverade, GoSpeaky and MyDocumenta sum more than 870K users in total (at least 392K users related to FI-ADOPT activities). Paying customers (B2B market): From 2 to 263. Creation of SMEs: 3 groups of individuals, who submitted a proposal, were converted to SMEs

Slide No. 6 FI-ADOPT Sub-grantees Achievements (2) Additional private & public funds: 5 companies have received more than 550K from private funding 2 companies have being partially acquired 2 additional companies are in the process of raising funding from Venture Capitals 3 companies have received 377K additional public funding 3 companies submited proposals in June 2016 requesting in total 1.44M additional public funding.

Manufacturing equipment in EU is worth 57B Lack easy access to competencies (scientific, technological, market access and business development). Inability to reach critical market mass. No user-driven application development, small (national) group of customers DIATOMIC will establish a sustainable ecosystem to facilitate digital innovation in the health, agri-food and manufacturing sectors, all of which are under-digitized and of prime importance for society and the economy.

Each proposal will be reviewed by 2 external evaluators : Experiment [1-5; min.3]: design, reliability, feasibility, novelty Technology [1-5; min.3]: innovation, integration with DIATOMIC expertise, capacity to achieve TRL 6-9 Consortium [1-5; min.3]: capacity to perform; knowledge, technological and business expertise; commitment Impact [1-5; min.4]: experiment output, business scalability, exploitation plan, commercial milestones, innovation potential with respect to triggering additional application/solutions development An additional point will be given to proposals that bring private fund into the total experiment budget: (between 15%-24%: +1 point; between 25%-30%: +2 points; and above 31%: +3 points) 2. The top ranked proposals (twice the number of planned number of proposals to be selected) will be invited to interviews with external evaluators; criteria: Concept & Technology (40%) [1-5; min.3] - confirmation of proposed targets and technology fit; Business (30%) [1-5; min.3] - the viability of the proposed business model; Exploitation (30%) [1-5; min.3] - reliability to reach milestones and readiness to present to investors
