2018 Membership Apr-May 90%. 10% away from 100%. Yeah Kentucky!!!. It was our goal to be positive and reward Units for accomplishments at Spring Conference via the Mystery Awards. No negativity as we know we have all worked very hard. Mission Accomplished. We had a great time and kept very upbeat. Now, the breather is over and we need to work twice as hard. Membership, because we have such a great organization should be a walk in the Park. But, in reality, it s tough, really tough. WE feel we are tougher when the cause is Our Veterans and the great land we live in. Keep the focus on Service Not Self and keep looking for those members who also love our goals. Our goal this year was just 1 more member than last year. For most units that should be very doable. And for those units that find it impossible to increase at this time, some other units should be able to pick up the slack. All we ask is that we keep in touch with our current members, include them in things happening in the Unit and or Post and is open to recruiting some new members and making them feel welcome. Because the #1 reason members do not renew is people were not nice to me. Other Chairs or Officers may cover this as well, but we feel it s important to include from Membership as well. There are only 2 types of members in the Auxiliary: Senior and Junior. Official Auxiliary Cards and benefits are only offered to those. Only senior members may vote on Auxiliary business. Our membership eligibility is controlled by The American Legion. Those qualifications for eligibility can be found on the membership applications provided from National or in the Auxiliary Guide Book. If you are not sure, you re Chairmen and Officers will gladly answer any questions. The next goal is May 25 th, Poppy Day, for 100%. We already have 24 units at 100% or greater. Great Job to those 24. We have 3 districts, all less than 11 members away from beings 100% Districts. Awesome = District 2, 3 and 8! Remember, that Assessments must be paid to receive awards and trophies. It s the final countdown and may the ALA Poppy Tree be in full Bloom! Hello Ladies. Department of Kentucky Juniors May Newsletter The juniors had a great spring conference even though there was only a few that attended. The girls went to a local Food and Clothing Pantry and assisted in organizing incoming clothing donations, made food baskets and helped low income customers with their needs. I was very proud to see our Juniors helping hers. The juniors also hand painted flower pots and planted flowers in them to sell to the Senior Ladies. They did quite well and as always the juniors appreciate the support of the Senior Auxiliary and the entire Legion family. If any Units have badges that their juniors have earned I will need that paper work by May 15 th in order to get the patches in time for Dept Conference. If all the active Junior Units could please send me their year end reports by May 10 th at the latest so that I can send my report to allow me time to get my report to the Southern Division Chair.
