Over the brief span of 20 years, has become one of the best educational institutions in the country and continues to develop global leaders of the future in Turkey and in the world. s mission is discovering and developing our true potential through critical thinking, effective collaboration and meaningful contributions as world citizens with the integration of 21st century skills into the curriculum. HIGH SCHOOL FACULTY The faculty is comprised of 68 teachers. Of these, 78% are Turkish and 22% are foreign nationals. 45% hold advanced degrees. ACCREDITATION & INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIPS School is accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Education, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) as well as the Council of International Schools (CIS). Memberships: Turkish Private School Association, Council of International Schools (CIS), NACAC, International ACAC, the College Board and the ERB Association. School is committed to internationalism in education and aims at developing global citizenship in students.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS & CURRICULUM The academic program is bilingual with a university preparatory curriculum. English is the language of instruction for science, math and English literature courses as well as a variety of electives. Turkish is the language of instruction for Turkish language and literature and some social science courses. Students follow a common core curriculum as mandated by the Turkish Ministry of Education, consisting of English, Turkish literature and language, math, sciences, social sciences, a foreign language, and electives. It is expected that students planning to study science, math, or engineering complete 4 years of math, 3 sciences in grades 9-10 and 2 sciences in grades 11-12. Students take an average of 12 courses per year, including electives. To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 40 credits per year. All students graduating from are awarded the Anadolu Lisesi Diploması (Private Anatolian High School Diploma). ACADEMIC & ADVISING POLICIES As a small school, does not compute class rank. Both year-end averages and cumulative GPAs are listed on the transcript. GPAs are calculated by multiplying grades by the number of credit hours in each course. All courses are included in the cumulative GPA average. We do not incorporate transfer grades from other institutions in our GPA. AP courses are not weighted and graded on the same scale as other courses. It is important to note that grade inflation is not practiced at. Admission is selective and our academic standards are high. Just 10% of our students typically achieve a GPA above 95. In the class of 2018, the top GPA was 97.83 and the year before that it was 98. Students receive numeric grades on a 100 point scale in all courses. s passing grade is 60. In cases where universities require or request, School reports all out-of-school suspensions, exclusions and withdrawals that arise as a result of a disciplinary incident where the incident raises significant concerns about the future safety and well-being of the student concerned or of those with whom he/she interacts; or where the incident raises significant concerns about the academic integrity of the student.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) COURSES Traditionally the Turkish Curriculum is known for its rigor, especially in math and sciences. In addition to the Turkish Curriculum, AP courses are offered to 11th and 12th grade students only as elective courses. School began implementing the program in 2007, (only 2 courses offered) and currently offers the highest number of AP courses in Turkey. There are 20 AP courses being offered in 2018-2019 and 72% of 11th and 12th grade students are enrolled in AP courses. As a result of course-scheduling conflicts or conflicts with the Turkish Ministry requirements, some of our students not enrolled in the courses study independently and sit for the AP exams. In 2018, a total of 291 AP exams were administered in 18 AP subjects. In 2014-2015 School was selected as one of 16 international schools to pilot the AP Capstone Diploma Program. This innovative diploma program provides students the opportunity to engage in scholarly practice of the core academic skills through a two-course sequence: AP Seminar in grade 11 and AP Research in grade 12. Successful completion of these two courses earns an AP certificate. Successful completion of these two courses in conjunction with 4 other AP courses earns an AP Capstone Diploma. Currently in its tenth year, students in the program visit disadvantaged regions of Turkey to lead children in activities that focus on critical thinking skills, human rights, arts, sports and English. Youth Handball Team were semi-finalists at the Turkish Championship and our girl's volleyball team competed at the Turkish Championship. In addition to the activities outside school, hosted the 2nd TEDx School, JMUN and first JMUN in Spanish. In its 20th year, introduced the Apple Distinguished Program designation to Turkey for its programs that meet criteria for innovation, leadership and educational excellence demonstrating Apple s vision of exemplary learning environments. Following the establishment of the IdeaLab, as a well-resourced hands-on learning space, our students from the Robotics team participated in the First Robotics Competition (FRC) Silicon Valley Regional and received the Imagery Award. In April, upon their success in Silicon Valley, three of our students from the Robotics team participated in Pi wars Robotics Challenge Competition at University of Cambridge and they received the Best Presentation Award at the First Lego League and two special jury awards at the Turkish Airlines Hackathon. High School students also excel in arts and sports. Our Classical Guitar Band ranked first at Sea Sun Festival in Spain and four High School students were among the three finalists at fashion and interior design competitions organized by Regent s University in London.
