The Advent and Christmas Seasons are very special times at St. Francis de Sales. Christmas Eve is especially exciting when we walk into church and see the sparkling lights on all the trees, the Christmas flowers, and the creche waiting for the baby Jesus to be placed between Mary and Joseph. Christmas this year falls on a Monday so something is happening that only occurs one time every seven years. The Fourth Sunday of Advent takes place on Christmas Eve! Because of this unusual timing, there will be only two Masses on the morning of Dec. 24. Those Masses will be at7:30 and 9:00 a.m. (no 10:30 a.m. Mass) The times for Christmas Eve Masses are changing slightly this year. Father Mark would like to celebrate the Children s Mass at both St. Francis and St. Benedict so we have each altered our schedules so that can happen. The Children s Mass will be at 3: 00 p.m. with music by the Children s Choir. There will then be a 4:30 p.m. Mass in the church. The later Mass will be at 10:00 p.m. with music by the Adult Choir beginning at 9:40 p.m.. We will be putting out reminders in the coming weeks about these time changes. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY Friday, Dec. 8, is the day we celebrate the Immaculate Conception of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The day marks our belief that God preserved Mary from any inclination to sin, the inheritance of original sin passed on to all mankind from Adam and Eve. It is the patronal feast day of the United States and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales that day at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Giving Period & Method Stewardship Treasure Actual Goal Over/ (Under) Weekend of December 3 Envelope 14,818 7,717 7,101 Offertory 2,167 2,675 (508) Elect. Memorare of Our Lady of Guadalupe Remember, O most gracious Virgin of Guadalupe, that in your heavenly apparitions on the mount of Tepeyac, you promised to show your compassion and pity towards all who, loving and trusting you, seek your help and call upon you in their necessities and afflictions. You promised to hear our supplications, to dry our tears, and to give us consolation and relief. Never has it been known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, we fly to you, O Mary, ever- Virgin Mother of the true God! Though grieving under the weight of our sins, we come to prostrate ourselves before you. We fully trust that, standing beneath your shadow and protection, nothing will trouble or afflict us, nor do we need to fear illness or misfortune, or any other sorrow. O Virgin of Guadalupe, you want to remain with us through your admirable Image, you who are our Mother, our health, and our life. Placing ourselves beneath your maternal gaze, and having recourse to you in all our necessities, we need do nothing more. O Holy Mother of God, despise not our petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer us. Amen KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS SIGNS The K of Cs will be selling their Keep Christ in Christmas car magnets and window decals (clings) for glass surfaces at our regular Sunday, Dec. 10 Breakfast. They make a great stocking stuffer or small gift for that special someone. Thank you from the K of Cs Council #1647. This will be your last chance! If there is enough interest I am hoping to secure a room at the church for this purpose, date/time TBD based on response. If interested please contact Dawn at (262) 203-5472. Responses should be received no later than Jan. 12, 2018. Most notable experience, students were honored by attending President Jimmy Carter's Sunday School in Plains, GA. Some of the other major sites included Dr. Martin Luther King Jr s assassination site at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. Dr. King's birth home and childhood church in Atlanta, GA, along with his church and home in Montgomery, AL.
