Learn About Our Farmland The main campus of Grand Valley State University is situated on 1,112 acres in Allendale, Michigan, located 12 miles west of Grand Rapids. Classes are also offered at the university's Pew Campus in Grand Rapids, Meijer Campus in Holland, and through centers at Muskegon and Traverse City established in cooperation with local community colleges. Founded in 1960, GVSU has grown over time from a small college to a large university that now has a student population of over 21,000. Over 5,000 of those students call on-campus housing home during the school year. Students living in on-campus housing have access to a variety of housing options, from traditional and suite style living centers to apartment-style housing and apartment complexes. Much of our housing is among the newest in Michigan. GVSU s Residence Housing Association, made up of an executive board, Community Council members, and members at-large, is committed to empowering and developing the students of Grand Valley. They are encouraged to become involved as Community Council members or as members at-large. This is made possible by the help from the professional housing staff, subregional, regional, and national affiliates, as well as other Grand Valley organizations and the off-campus population. 2
