Hello 4-H ers and 4-H families, Here we are again at the start of what is sure to be a great 4-H year! It was a busy summer but we have made it through! With club chartering in full swing, new clubs, and enrollment on the rise, we would like to ask everyone to be patient with us as we begin the new 4-H year. The 4-H County Council and 4-H Ambassadors are working hard on planning a great and exciting year! Please join us at the Officer Retreat on August 11 th from 9am to 4pm and of course at the County Council Kickoff party on August 25 th at 7:00 pm at the Extension Office. We will have door prizes and a fun Hollywood theme we know y all will enjoy. You won t want to miss it! We appreciate all the parents, volunteers, and leaders for helping support the 4-H program and the 4-H ers. Please feel free to contact the Extension Office for questions on any of your 4-H projects. 4-H NEWS Lamb & Goat and Breeding Sheep Validation Tag Order Deadline is August 18, 2015! All clubs with 4-H ers who will be showing lambs, goats and breeding sheep in Spring 2015 shows (Majors, Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and STAR) must submit orders for tags to the County Extension Office by August 18, 2015 by 5:00 p.m. Payment in full is required prior to the deadline for all tags ordered. Tags cost $20/each for market and breeding lambs and goats. This has changed from last year, all animals will be validated this year, including breeding goats. Lamb and goat validation will be held at the Weslaco Ag Farm on October 20, 2015, from 9:00am-11am and from 1:30pm-6:00pm.
