NEVADA TRAINING CORPS HEADQUARTERS NEVADA WING CIVIL AIR PATROL UNITED STATES AIR FORCE AUXILIARY 10 May 2018 MEMORANDUM FOR ENCAMPMENT APPLICANTS FROM: NVWG 2018, ENCAMPMENT COMMANDER SUBJECT: CADET STUDENT REGISTRATION INFORMATION Now that you have completed the Eventbrite registration process, I would like to personally welcome you to the 2018 Nevada Wing Encampment, part of the Nevada Training Corps. Your commitment to enhance your personal and professional development will be one of the most challenging and rewarding of your cadet career. The experiences, activities and the friends you make will provide you with pride and everlasting memories. You MUST arrive in ABU or BDU uniform at The Rising Star Sports Complex, 333 North Sandhill Blvd., Mesquite, NV 89027 between 1500 (3:00pm) and 1600 (4:00pm) on Saturday 30 June 2018. If you are arriving by bus, train, or air please send an email to darrin.scheidle@nvwg.cap.gov with details of your transportation plan so that we may make arrangements for pick up. Those few individuals arriving early due to carpooling with seniors or cadet staff will be expected to help with tasks in support of the encampment. Please make sure you have all required uniform items and you meet the grooming standards before arrival. For more information on the proper wear of the uniform please reference the CAPM 39-1. As well, be sure to familiarize yourself with the Cadet Encampment Handbook. You must be familiar with this before arrival. You will find the handbook at: https://www.capmembers.com/media/cms/cadet_encampment_handbook_2014_redu_a9889 EFC2C232.pdf Also upon arrival, you will be REQUIRED to present a signed, hard copy of your CAP Form 31, the Cadet Participant Release (media form), DD Form 1381 (in duplicate), CAP Form 160, and CAP Form 161. The CAP Form 162 is required only if you need a Physical Fitness Category 1, 2, 3, or 4 Waiver. The CAP Form 163, permission to administer over-the-counter medication if necessary, is optional. These forms may be found on the CAP Website at http://www.capmembers.com/forms_publications regulations/forms/. This year, we are going to ask that you complete these forms well in advance and have your commander review them. (in the case of non-nevada wing cadets attending, we will also need your wing commander to approve and sign). Once completed, your commander will scan your document package to the Encampment Operations Officer, Maj. Scheidle at darrin.scheidle@nvwg.cap.gov.the only documentation you will be required to present at registration will be your Eventbrite ticket. This will greatly improve in-processing times and give you the maximum time to train. We understand that there may be technology issues and we will accommodate any deviations that may arise. We are just asking for your help in discovering new ways to streamline processes and provide the best customer service to you. I would like to personally invite your friends and family to the graduation ceremony, to be held on Saturday, 7 July 2018 at 10:00 am. There will be signs showing directions to the parade grounds. Please have family and friends bring chairs and water for themselves. We anticipate that you will be released by 11:00 am. I wish you the best in the challenge that is set before you.
In years past, many cadets have arrived missing key items, like boots, gym shorts, bras, socks, personal items (even feminine hygiene items), and more. These items impact the ability to participate (and potentially graduate with enough credits) or cause hardship for the encampment. Please review the packing list to ensure you bring everything necessary for your time at encampment. If you do not have all the required items, you may be required to contact your parents to arrange for the missing items to be purchased locally at their expense or to have them ship the missing items to you so that you can complete the encampment. Further, when possible, we purchased them locally so that cadets could continue encampment. We understand that not everyone will have several sets of complete uniforms, but there must be at least 1 of each uniform. Guns/Knives/Other weapons, illegal drugs (by Federal standards, not State), cigarettes, and lighters are prohibited items do not bring them to Encampment. The following may be brought to Encampment, but will be collected by encampment staff and stored securely until the end of encampment, and it will be returned. These include electronic notebooks/tablets/etc., MP3 players/ipods/etc., laptops, cell phone, cameras, credit cards, magazines, car keys, food, money over $10, plane/bus/train tickets, and medications (not prescribed to the cadet). If there are any special medical needs (physical or mental), dietary needs (allergies or religious), or transportation needs (namely plane/bus/train), please ensure you identify that promptly to Maj. Lucia, at 702-218-6703, and email kennethlucia@yahoo.com. Respectfully, Bill Edwards BILL EDWARDS, Maj, CAP
