INTRODUCTION Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust was established in the year 1992. The main activities of the trust are in the Spheres of educational and health care. To imparting job orient education, particularly stress on women s education with turning out qualified nursing professional to improve the nursing care in the hospitals, the trust has established Sree Balaji College of Nursing in 1992. M.Sc., Nursing programme was started in 2005. The College is located at No.7, Works Road, Chromepet, Chennai which is near to the bus stand, railway station and airport.this college has excellent infrastructure facilities including qualified faculties to run B.Sc programme, M.Sc Nursing programme and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing programme. The College is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and The Tamil Nadu Nurses & Midwives Council. It is constituted to Bharath University. Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital is the parent Hospital of this College which is 1500 bedded Hospital with various Multi Specialties. Our college is accredited with CGPA of 3.20 on four point scale at A Grade.

SCOPE The scope & vision of the post graduate program in nursing is to assume responsibility as a nurse specialists, nurse educators, administrators, consultants and nurse researcher, in a wide variety of Health care setting. The candidate should be a Registered Nurse Registered midwives or equivalent with State Nursing Registration council. 2. The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of: B.Sc Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc., Nursing with minimum of 55% aggregate marks. 3. The candidate should have undergone in B.Sc., Nursing, Post Basic Nursing in any Institution which is recognized by Indian Nursing Council. 4. Minimum one year of work experience after Basic B.Sc., Nursing 5. Minimum one year of work experience prior or after post Basic B.Sc Nursing. 6. Candidate shall be medically fit. 7. 5% relaxation of marks for SC/ST candidate may be given. 8. Preference will be given to candidate with clinical experience on the area of speciality choose. 9. Every candidate must submit the Medical fitness certificate from are authorized Medical officer. ELIZIBILITY CERTIFICATE Candidate from Tamil Nadu as well as other state need to obtain as eligibility certificate from the Bharath University by remitting the prescribed fees along with the application form. Candidate from other states must produce the migration certificate at the time of admission. REGISTRATION The candidate admitted to the programme shall register with the Bharath University by remitting the prescribed fees along with the application form for registration duly filled in and forwarded to the Bharath University through the head of the Institution within the stipulated date. Branch-V : Mental Health Nursing SELECTION OF THE CANDIDATE: Candidate will be selected on the basis of merit and experience in Specialty areas by college selection committee member. After scrutiny of application eligible candidate will be called for a Interview/ entrance test before admission. Admission notification will intimate the date of commencements of course. REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATION 80% of the attendance for theory and practical s However 100% of attendance for practical s before the award of degree. If the candidate fails in either practicals or theory paper he/she has to reappear for both the papers (theory & practical s). Maximum no of attempts per subject is three (3) inclusive of first attempt. The maximum period to complete the course successfully should not exceed 4 years. Candidates who fail in any subject shall be permitted to continue the studies into the second year. However the candidate shall not be allowed to appear for the second year examination till such time that he/she passes all subjects of the first year M.sc Nursing examination.
CLASSIFICATION OF RESULTS: 50% pass in each of the theory and practical separately 50-59% second division (II-class) 60-74% First division (I class) 75% and above is distinction The rank/ position of the candidate will be considered based on the aggregate of 2 years marks. PRACTICALS: 4 hours of practical examination per student. Maximum number of 10 students per speciality The examination should be held in clinical area only clinical specialities One internal and external will be jointly conduct the practical examination. DISSERTATION: Submission of research proposal shall be end of 9 th month of 1 st year. Submission of dissertation (final) shall be end of the 9 th month of 2nd year. PROGRAMME OF STUDY The M.Sc (Nursing) programme is of 2 years, non semester study. During the programme, theory, clinical experience in the hospitals & community will be provided. EVALUATION OF DISERTATION: Evaluation of the dissertation should be done by the examiner prior to viva. The dissertation shall be evaluated by: 1. Professor of Nursing Research common to all the branches of speciality. 2. Professor in clinical speciality. 3. An external examiner which experience in Nursing Research who will be common to all the branches of speciality 4. The number of pages of dissertation should not exceed 60 pages 5. The viva-voce examination should be minimum 30 minutes per student. Resubmission of theses: Resubmission of theses with corrections can be done within 6 month Resubmission of theses with total re-doing can be done within 2 years. CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE: 1. Students are expected to follow ethical values in personal and profession life and maintain the professional standards in college and hospital. 2. Students should make every effort to care of the college, hostel and hospital property.
3. Students are expected to abide by the rules and regulations laid by the College, Hospital and Hostel. VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL Students who voluntarily withdraw from the course shall be required to pay the full fees for entire programme. The fees already paid will not be refunded. HOSTEL (OPTIONAL) Students should not bring any valuables or jewellery. The college will not take any responsibility for loss or theft. Food will be provided in the hostel. No examination will be provided for man candidates.
