I may be contacted at: 660-665-9866 (Michelle Klem) ATTENTION MEMBERS: ELIGIBILITY TO SHOW RULES I know it feels like fair season is a long time off, but the reality is, the fair is a little over 4 months away. I want to remind everyone that you must be a member in good standing to be eligible to show at any of the local, regional and state shows. Outlined below are the membership and eligibility requirements for Sullivan County 4-H members, set by the 4-H Advisory Board. Member in good standing: a re-enrolled club member who attends a majority of club meetings from October 1 st through June 30 th. NO EXCEPTIONS. New members must attend a majority of meetings from the date of enrollment and must not be enrolled any later than March 1 st to be in good standing. Re-enrolling members must attend a majority of their club meetings held from October 1 st (through event registration date if good standing is required) through August 31 st, in order to be classified as a member in good standing. One meeting over half the meetings held. (example: 6 out of 10) Food animal projects must take the SMQA (Show Me Quality Assurance) certification to be listed as a member in good standing. Club leaders will submit a list of ineligible members to the Extension Office by June 30 th and August 31 st AND will contact the ineligible members to inform them of their ineligibility as a member in good standing. I look forward to seeing all of your hard work pay off at the Sullivan County 4-H and FFA fair this summer. 1

MISSOURI STATE FAIR LIVESTOCK RULES Attention livestock project members: please read the MO State Fair livestock rules listed below. These rules were implemented in 2015. For a complete list of rules please visit the Missouri State Fair website http://www.mostatefair.com/ 7. Disclosure Form: For each animal entered in any Junior Livestock competition at the Missouri State Fair, the Exhibitor must prepare and submit at the time of the Show, a Disclosure Form show-ing all illnesses, injuries, medications and injections, including the locations of any injuries and injections, the dates, amounts of medications and injections given the animal and the purpose of each treatment, since exhibitor ownership deadline. If care is given by a licensed veterinarian, you must show the name and address of the veterinarian. 8. ANIMAL WELFARE: There will be no needles allowed in the Missouri State Fair livestock barns or in tie-outs. Any medication needed must be administered by the Missouri State Fair veterinarian or with the approval of the Missouri State Veterinarian. The Shaping Rural Missouri grant program offers Missouri 4-H and FFA organizations $500 grants to implement projects that will benefit their rural communities and youth development. Providing opportunities for rural community development is important to FCS Financial because our employees and customers live in these same areas, said Scott Gardner, Vice President, Sales & Marketing. These grants not only strengthen our rural communities but allow our youth to work as a team to accomplish a goal. Funds are awarded to assist club or chapter members in bringing positive change by establishing projects that make their local communities better places to live. FCS Financial encourages applicants to collaborate with other community organizations to develop and complete their improvement project. Last year, FCS Financial funded 38 projects across Missouri. Projects improved local communities by building picnic tables, planting trees and landscaping school grounds. Applications are due April 1, 2016. Achievement Day is for everybody, so read on and see what activities you want to participate in. Achievement Day is Sunday, April 24th at Green City City Hall. Check in will be from 1:30 2:00 pm with the program starting promptly at 2:00 p.m. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUESTED BY WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20 TH. Finger foods will be served at Achievement Day!
