Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program NABA-St. Louis Chapter s mission is to provide community outreach throughout the year. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) is one of our community outreach initiatives. Starting in 1981, the Chapter reached out to various St. Louis neighborhoods to provide free income tax preparation. Since 1991, the St. Louis chapter officially partnered with IRS and Myrtle Hilliard Davis Comprehensive Health Center to continue this much needed service in the community. VITA clients are low-to-moderate-income earners, the elderly and disabled taxpayers. Because of NABA s efforts over the years, millions of dollars in tax refunds have flowed into the Metro St. Louis economy while saving clients millions in preparer fees. For the 2014 tax year, NABA processed almost $1 million in Federal and State tax returns and saved clients close to $200,000 in tax preparation fees. 6 N ational Association of Black Accountants St. Louis Chapter
