In 2014, the Foundation had awarded a total of over $733,000 in funds to deserving and outstanding students. FUNDING The Scholarship Program is funded by contributions from AEE chapters, members, corporations, and individuals. ELIGIBILITY Scholarships are available to undergraduate degree candidates who are enrolled in engineering or energy management programs in accredited colleges or universities. Candidates are nominated by the Chapter. The Chapter s Scholarship Committee initially screens the candidate for eligibility, need, and qualifications. Student s current transcript Statement of 50-100 words from student: Why I wish to study energy engineering and/or energy management Chapter recommendation indicating general nomination: Albert Thumann nomination, Konstantin Lobodovsky nomination, William (Bill) Mashburn nomination, and Walter Johnston nomination. Each Chapter may submit up to six (6) students for consideration annually. We ask that the Chapter choose one applicant for consideration for the AEE Albert Thumann Scholarship, one applicant for the Konstantin Lobodovsky Scholarship, one applicant for the William (Bill) Mashburn scholarship, and one applicant for the Walter Johnston scholarship. These Scholarships are awarded to four students annually. The Lobodovsky, Mashburn, and Johnston Scholarships are $1,000 each and the Thumann Scholarship is $2,000. All students must fit eligibility requirements for the academic year in which the scholarship was applicable. Announcement of Scholarship Recipients is made August 1. CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS Chapters that wish to conduct their own scholarship programs should be aware that for donations to be tax deductible, they must be made to the AEE Foundation, not AEE or an AEE chapter. (AEE is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, but only the AEE Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.) Chapters may have funds for their own scholarship program submitted to the Foundation along with instructions as to disbursement (the amount, the student, and the school). The Foundation will then issue checks which will be sent to the Chapter for presentation. Page 2 of 7
