Introduction Nurses across the United Kingdom are leading service innovations and transforming healthcare. Now, more than ever before, it is crucial for nurses to have the knowledge and skills to demonstrate the value of their innovations. The RCN is therefore working with the Office for Public Management (OPM), with support from the Burdett Trust for Nursing, to develop the skills of nurse innovators through a bespoke programme. Programme participants learn how to, and then use economic evidence, to demonstrate the value of nurse-led innovation. The programme is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), and upon completion of a monetised case study, participants are awarded an ILM certificate. In the first phase, nurses in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland working at the hospital community interface undertook our training. One participant said: I found it riveting; your ability to put across the subject in a way that is easy to understand was fantastic. You also gave me the confidence to say "yes, with some support, I can have a good go at doing this myself" Phase 1 participants are listed within fields of nursing practice on our website i In this current, second phase, thirty nurses across England have been sponsored by their employer to undertake the programme, which has been further developed based on feedback from phase I participants. At the request of phase II participants, we have developed this booklet to facilitate networking and peer support. Participants who are working towards completing their case study are listed here and grouped by RCN Region. 3 P a g e

We hope participants, their sponsors and RCN colleagues will find this a helpful resource. We are currently in the process of developing our webpages where, in due course, we will share and showcase completed case studies. With special thanks to Karen Rapley, seconded from her substantive RCN post to support the programme, for the design and development of this booklet.
