Invitation Opportunities for EU India Cleantech cooperation in Business and Research The European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) invite interested companies and researchers to join the paneuropean business & research delegation to India, surrounding the Global Technology Partnership Forum, 2011. Event where & when? New Delhi, India 11 13 May 2011

Should you participate? Participation in this mission is open to EU companies, researchers, cluster representatives, and Universities, operating in the following sectors: Renewable Energy Municipal and industrial waste management Water treatment for industrial and municipal water use The purpose of the delegation is to understand the Indian market scenario and explore concrete business & research opportunities in the aforementioned areas. Mission benefits A customized schedule of oneonone business meetings with prescreened Indian partners, agents, distributors and licensees Showcase your technology solution at the European Cleantech Pavilion in the exhibition area of the Forum Conduct meetings with State Government representatives and municipal bodies to identify specific project opportunities Participate in highlevel networking and information sessions with central Government officials and top players of Indian industry Company/industry site visits Market Drivers The demandsupply gap in power is currently at 8% one of the key drivers of renewable energy in India and this gap is slated to widen further given the pace of growth of Indian economy. The utilization of renewable energy sources is still relatively low in India, thus presenting excellent business potential. The Indian Government considers renewable energy as critical factor in addressing the country s growing energy demand and has enacted several policies to support the expansion of renewable energy, e.g. the National Solar Mission has given big impetus to solar energy in India, leading to an installed capacity of 20,000 MW by the end of 2022. Continued support at State Government level for clean energy projects promises to drive strong growth in the future. With an increasingly favourable regulatory and policy environment along with a growing number of enterprising entrepreneurs and project developers, India is ranked the third most attractive country to invest in renewable energy, according to the Ernst & Young Country attractiveness indices. With depleting water resources, pressure on industry to recover and recycle waste water is mounting. More than 300,000 SMEs in India, with 90% of them employing no wastewater treatment, offer considerable scope for technology transfer. The growth in municipal solid waste has outpaced the population growth in recent years, needing sustainable and costeffective technology solutions. 2

How to participate? EU companies and researchers interested in joining the mission are invited to submit their Expression of Interest and send it to delhi@ebtc.eu or fax to +91 (0)11 4517 2209 by 11 March 2011. Participation in the Business & Research Delegation is free of cost. Please note that delegates will be required to book and pay for their own costs for flights, airport transfers and hotels. Delegates will be able to take advantage of discounted hotel rates.
