Mission, Vision and Core Values The Mission of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce is to be the pre-eminent business advocacy organization in the Greater Lansing region by collaborating for economic growth and job creation, creating new business development and education opportunities for our members while upholding pro-business ideals through the advancement of sound public policy. We will achieve this Mission by: Leadership We boldly embrace our regional leadership role and make it our top priority to promote programs and initiatives that encourage economic growth and job creation in the Greater Lansing region. Access We assist our members in growing their business by providing access to each other and the broader community and engaging them in the Chamber s work. Influence We utilize our influence to advance the most important and viable economic issues and projects in the Greater Lansing region. Advocate We remain committed to advocating for the business community on issues that reflect our values and vision as a Chamber. Resource We will be viewed as the leading business resource by providing services and information to help businesses be more profitable, and by providing networking opportunities that help business leaders make valuable connections throughout the Greater Lansing region. Quality of Life We help the Lansing region and its citizens develop, maintain and enjoy an exceptional quality of life in business, culture, arts, education, and the environment. Regionalism We recognize the importance of regional cooperation and lead the movement to tie business, government and education toward common goals in addressing community needs. Integrity We never compromise our integrity, and the things we do accurately reflect what we say. Diversity We celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of the Greater Lansing region, which we view as critically important in helping the region grow and prosper. 2

A Message from the President The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to kick-off 2013 with a new look for our FOCUS magazine. We think the attractive new FOCUS magazine will continue to be a must-read with our membership; a piece that will be kept around the office as a resource for employees, clients and visitors. The new layout is also designed to offer even more attractive marketing opportunities for member organizations. Much like the new and improved FOCUS magazine, we are excited about the prospects for a great year in 2013. The Chamber s 101 st Annual Dinner, an event that is always a highlight for business networking and member recognition, took place on Thursday, February 28. Our team worked hard to make this annual event a very special evening for the business community. The 2013 Economic Club series promises to be one of our best ever, with an outstanding roster of speakers that you ll find listed on our website. In response to feedback we ve received from many of our members, the Chamber is also introducing a Business Education Series in 2013. These forums will offer educational programs designed to help our members sharpen their skills in areas including social media, marketing, new trends in human resources, healthcare and more. The coming year will also be a pivotal year in local elections. The Lansing Regional Chamber s Political Action Committee intends to be actively involved in supporting candidates in key races that include the mayoral and city council races in the City of Lansing. We head into 2013 with great optimism and tremendous leadership. The Chamber s dynamic Board of Directors will be chaired by Paula Cunningham of Capitol National Bank, with Bill Kimble of C2AE serving as chair-elect. Our Chamber Board and staff are committed to providing resources and business networking opportunities to help your organization grow and flourish. Our team will continue to provide leadership that is dedicated to a strong regional economy which will offer a brighter future for us all. The focus is on 2013. I hope it is your best year ever. Tim Daman President & CEO 517.487.6340 tdaman@lansingchamber.org 3

Here are some ways membership in the Chamber can go to work for you: Increase your network of potential customers by increasing your visibility! Experience free referrals through our online and printed directory. Choose from many types of events, meetings and forums to network your business. Gain access to savings from exclusive group programs such as health insurance, workers compensation insurance discounts and dividends, office supply discounts and more! The savings and value will far exceed the cost of dues. Learn ways to improve your business operations and prepare for necessary changes from expert staff and volunteers dedicated to ensuring your business a success. Your investment ensures our government relations and economic development activities create the kind of economic and legislative market your business needs to succeed. When consumers know that a small business is a member of the chamber of commerce, they are 49% more likely to think favorably of it and 80% more likely to purchase goods or services from the company in the future. The Schapiro Group 2012 Joining the Chamber is one of the finest things I could have done for my business; the small investment that I made has already paid for itself after only a short amount of time. I challenge the reader to show us another organization which has such a high level of respect, and can enhance your business with the benefits of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce. For me to say that the Chamber is just another association would do it injustice. I attended my first member mixer and I must say that it was a watershed event. I met so many great professionals which I am confident will assist or have an impact in catapulting my business into the future. Christopher Harris CEO, Harris Applied Research 4
