The targets of PA 4 1. Achieve the management objectives set out in the Danube River Basin Management Plan; 2. Reduce the nutrient levels in the Danube River to allow the recovery of the Black Sea ecosystems to conditions similar to 1960s; 3. Elaborate a Danube Delta Analysis Report as a step towards completion of the Delta management Plan; 4. Elaborate, adopt and implement sub-basin management plans, such as Sava, Tisza and Prut subbasins 5. Secure viable populations of Danube sturgeon species

PA4 PAC project 2017-2019 Partners: HU SK ASP: ICPDR WP1:Management, Publicity, Communication Reporting, Meetings, Dissemination WP2: Policy development Closer links with macro- reg strategies, WS organization: water and agriculture, Guidance document on sustainable agriculture to reduce nutrient pollution from diffuse sources in the DRB. WP3: Cooperation, coordination Strategic and funding cooperation: EUSDR PAs, EU/int. organizations, funding instruments WP4: Strategic projects Strategic development of projects (5)

Focus on the following topics A1, A2 A4, A5 A8, A9 A9 strengthening sub-basin activities, facilitate the efficiency of waste water treatment in the basin (specific focus on non-eu countries), challenges in relation to hazardous substances, and substances that are problematic for Danube Regions, better integration of agriculture sector in water management (strengthening cooperation with agri sector), updated solutions in the assessment of new sustainable human development activities towards the Danube Region development (in accordance with the Article 4.7 of the WFD 2000/60/EC), river continuity interruption (reintroduction of sturgeon species in the Danube and its tributaries and sediment issues).

Project focus A12 The PA4 team -in line with the PA4 Roadmap- will assist in project generation, partner search and identifying funding opportunities for PA4 stakeholders, including organizing and attending at funding workshops, conferences and project preparatory meetings for water projects. A4, A5 The PA4 team will continue focusing on WFD and UWWTD items, urban waste water issues also in Non-EU countries, further aiming to set up successful project consortia for the upcoming calls and beyond.

First macro-regional strategies workshop on water Idea of EUSDR PA4 and was organized jointly by EUSDR PA4 and Interact on 19 April 2018 in Budapest All 4 macro-regional strategies participated and presented their water related activities and approaches (EUSDR PA4, 5, 6, Baltic, Alpine, Ion-Adriatic) + DG ENV, EG REGIO Interesting to see the different approaches / priorities of the strategies Roundtable discussion identified similar and different approaches on funding, stakeholder involvement and policy impact of activities and identified themes that could be subject to further cooperation Agreement on the usefulness of further common work more detailed study will be elaborated based on the results of the workshop still this year and then a kind of task force established next year

Open calls: EEA and Norway Grants 15 million EUR is available for this call for proposals, grant assistance at least 1 M EUR DEADLINE for submitting the project concept note 1 July 2018 2 steps call: 1. Concept notes deadline 1 July 2018 2. Notification of concept notes assessment 15 October 2018 3. Full proposal deadline 15 December 2018 4. Project selection decision - 1 March 2019 ELIGIBLE CONSORTIA Consist of at least three countries, including at least two from Beneficiary States (Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia) - i.e. each project must include one lead partner and at least two beneficiary partners of which at least one must be from a Beneficiary State. Eligible beneficiary partner: any eligible entity established in Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine; Expertise partners: any eligible entity established in a Donor State, in a non-eligible EU Member State or international organisations.

Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance The EU supports reforms in the 'enlargement countries' with financial and technical help. The IPA funds build up the capacities of the countries throughout the accession process, resulting in progressive, positive developments in the region. The most important novelty of IPA II is its strategic focus. Country Strategy Papers are the specific strategic planning documents made for each beneficiary for the 7-year period. Current beneficiaries are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo*, Montenegro, Serbia, and Turkey. http://ec.europa.eu/enlargement/instruments/overview/index_en.htm

Planned workshop on WFD Article 4.7 Venue: Bratislava Date: 12 September 2018 DG ENV and JASPERS will participate and present Main issues to be discussed: implementation of WFD Article 4.7; pilot cases in the field of water management e.g. hydropower, waterways and road transportation; the biggest challenges experienced; solutions).
