April 2018 Americana Senior Care OUR MISSION Our mission is to be the most affordable yet innovative and luxurious Senior Care Program by offering the finest amenities and care for our members. WHAT WE DO Americana Senior Care is a beneficial and cost-effective alternative for the care of seniors in a safe, structured environment. Every day includes individualized attention, physically and cognitively stimulating activities, socialization as well as healthy meals planned by a licensed dietician. ***Our staff members are Dementia trained and able to assist members with Dementia and Alzheimer s Disease. Tustin Farmers Market Outing

We offer the Memories in the Making program every other Thursday. Stop on by and see our members paintings, located in our Activity Room. What is Memories in the Making? Memories in the Making, the signature art program of Alzheimer s Orange County (ALZOC), was created to provide a meaningful activity for persons with dementia, while focusing on creative expression as a form of communication. When the disease affects language, art becomes a more suitable form of expression. With the stroke of a paintbrush participants are able to express themselves, often painting memories from long ago or images that represent their hobbies and passions. Currently, classes are offered at adult day centers and memory care communities. However, it can also be a one-on-one activity through an in-home care agency or with loved ones in the comfort of their own home. The Benefits of Memories in the making can include: Improved self-esteem A productive outlet for emotions Increased attention span and focus Activation of brain neurons An opportunity to socialize, thus reducing isolation Recollection and expression of the memories A way to reconnect with love ones Learn more about this program at : www.alzoc.org

What s Cooking Every other Tuesday we put our aprons and make a delicious snack. Weather it s Sugar cookies from scratch or sharing our secret family recipes our members enjoy every minute of it. FUN FACT: Cooking activities can stir memories, help to build or strengthen emotional bonds and connections with others, help them to feel more engaged with life, and even reduce feelings of stress and anxiety or irritability, that Alzheimer's disease often brings.
