Uniform Program Initiatives Light Weight ODU: Reduced overall weight, increased air permeability. Warm/Humid environments. Light Blue Dress Shirt: Coordinated change w/ Air Force. Fabric change to a stretch herringbone. Increased user comfort. Fleece Liner: Replaces ODU utility jacket. Authorized as standalone garment, requires rank tab. Fitted ball cap: Optional item to be worn in lieu of standard USCG ball cap. To be sold via CGX. (Currently in development)
Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6J Uniform Regulations: COMDTINST M1020.6J (promulgated Aug 2018) Chapter 1 (General Policy): Coast Guard Exchange identified as main access point to purchase uniforms from UDC via SHOPCGX.com Chapter 2 (Appearance & Grooming): Eyewear retaining straps; clarifies policy to allow retaining straps with ODU s, Trops, and Winter Dress Blue uniforms. Winter Cap, Boonie Cap, and Ball Cap authorized with civilian attire w/o insignia attached Grooming standards Hair/Women: Hair bun size limitation has been increased from 2 to 3 and not to exceed the width of the head. Female Hair Accessories: authorized wear of a hair Claw, not to exceed 3 and be similar to hair color, black, or brown.
Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6J Chapter 3 (Uniforms): ODU Blue Crew Neck T-shirt: letter, US COAST GUARD no longer required. Fitted Ball Cap: optional in lieu Standard USCG Ball Cap (In development). Knit Watch Cap: May be worn with ODU s during operational activities in cold wx. Cold Weather Cap: Requires Combination Cover Insignia to be affixes to front. Boonie Cap: Authorized for wear in adverse environments, must include sew-on rank insignia. ODU Blouse: Members may choose sleeves up or down unless further uniformity is needed. ODU Trouser: Removed CG embroidered emblem on trouser pocket. Chapter 4 (Insignias, Devices, and Medals/Awards): Updated chapter includes several device & badge changes (ie. Culinary Specialists / Recruiter Badge / Rating Force Master Chief Badge)
Uniform Regulations, COMDTINST M1020.6J Chapter 5 (Special Uniforms & Clothing): Uniform Program assumed Executive Agent (EA) responsibility from CG-721 governing the approval and wear authorization for the Navy Type III uniform. Training Center Physical Fitness Wear: Company Commanders, Class Advisors, Fitness Instructors. Authorization to wear Spirit Accessories by Coast Guard Cadets as determined by Academy leadership.

Special Measurement Uniform Orders If the UDC is unable to fulfill your size request with standard stocked items, you may request a Special Measurement order by completing the: Male Special Order Form or the Female Special Order Form The forms must be submitted to the UDC with payment for processing. The UDC will coordinate the pattern development and submission to the vendor for manufacturing.. Each order is processed upon receipt and average completion time is approximately 60-90 days depending on the complexity of the garment requested. NOTE: Auxiliary Members are required to remit payment at the time of special order submission. NOTE: Members should seek to obtain measurements from a professional tailor.
