Dream Outdoor Classroom Contest Make your dream outdoor a reality! TO BE ELIGIBLE, Educators must: - Return application with a letter of support from principal (or director of community site) by 1/16/15 - Be available to set-up your s display at the RI Flower Show (February 17 th ) - Be available to attend the awards ceremony at the RI Flower Show (Date TBD) All participating s/groups will receive: - Space at the RI Flower Show to display their outdoor design - 4 Free tickets to the RI Flower Show - Free attendance to a design workshop led by DownCity Design on January 7 th The winning will receive: - $500 Grant to complete their project - ½ Day of Outdoor Classroom training provided by Audubon Society of RI - A selection of plants from the RIEEA garden * Prizes will also be awarded for 2 nd and 3 rd place finishers Application Due: January 16, 2015 Completion of Contest Criteria: February 17, 2015. Dream Outdoor Classroom Contest Contest Criteria 1. A student generated display board for the Flower Show which includes: o The plan (of project from above) Scale included o Student drawing(s)/sketches of the outdoor o A paragraph describing/explaining the outdoor o A photo of the site where the will be built o Any inspiration photos used o Supply Budget 2. Contest Focus Questions (To be completed by the educator) Please answer the following questions and include the responses on the back of the contest display. Impact 1. Who will benefit from the construction of your outdoor? 2. How will you engage others within your school to utilize the outdoor and will you engage others beyond your school to utilize the outdoor (this could be other schools in close proximity, community organizations, afterschool programs, etc.)? Achievability 1. Share your general plan for implementation. In your plan please address the following items: What is the general timeline for completion? Who will be involved in development and construction? How will the site be maintained beyond this school year? Affordability This question only needs to be addressed if your budget exceeds $500.00. 1. If your budget exceeds the $500 grant, how will you raise the additional funds needed to complete the project?
