She also welcomed our council s newest member, Navy veteran Steve Wiggins shown here with membership chairman Mike Hurley. Council member Bob Ames has worked with Roy s homeless veterans outreach program for several years, and he introduced Roy today. Bob noted Roy s citation as a CNN Top 10 National Community Service Hero (among countless other awards) for establishing and continuing to lead a model program of multi-faceted assistance for homeless veterans. Palm Beach Sea Cadet staff officer Frank Verna and his son Cadet Richard Verna attended yesterday s luncheon. Frank thanked the council for its recent sizable contribution that furnished the Sea Cadets with additional Color Guard and competition equipment. Jerry Gay and Catherine Brister hosted Jianying (Hanscom) Yang as their guest yesterday, and many members were excited to have Jianying back with us again. She announced that she ll be making a 2-month trip back to China soon. It was good to have with us some council members yesterday that we don t often get to see at our socials, including Mr Bruce Crawford and John & Virginia Pacelli. thanks for coming! Two council members provided checks yesterday for sponsoring youth performance awards at our upcoming Youth Recognition Dinner at Bear Lakes Country Club on April 23 rd.
