Workforce Investment Act (WIA), State Training & Employment Program (STEP), and other programs available in the job centers delivered via individual training accounts Job related training services can help Alaskans qualify and obtain high-demand jobs that lead to economic self-sufficiency

Job centers provide priority of service for veterans and eligible spouses in WIA funded programs. Priority of service means that veterans and eligible spouses are given priority over non-covered persons for the receipt of employment, training and placement services. There are over 71,000 veterans in Alaska (6,632 in Southeast alone)

Federal program designed to offer high quality services to communities, businesses and individuals who are addressing events that may lead to worker layoffs Services are flexible and strategically designed to bridge economic and workforce development. By maximizing resources Rapid Response helps businesses and individuals in transition succeed. Help businesses and individuals in transition to avoid or recover from layoff Rapid Response triggers when a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice id filed but also addresses smaller layoffs

Trained Disability Resource Coordinators throughout the job center network Implemented Employment Network (EN) sites statewide for Ticket to Work Assigned a trained DOLWD employee as a certified benefits planner Increase the number of adults with disabilities using the job center to secure employment through resource and asset building.
