No. 915 STATE COLLEGE AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT SECTION: TITLE: ADOPTED: REVISED: Community Booster Organizations and/or Clubs Policy 915 Boosters Organizations and/or Clubs 1. Purpose The State College Area Board of School Directors (the Board) recognizes and appreciates the cooperation, encouragement, and support given by booster organizations and/or clubs to its sports and other extracurricular activities. The purpose of such booster organizations and/or clubs is to assist and support the District's sports and other extracurricular activities, not to direct or supplant them. Booster organizations and/or clubs are not agents of the District. Therefore, all District sports and other extracurricular activities shall remain at the school level and under the control, direction, and supervision of the District through its designated administrators, coaches, and advisors. The ultimate goal of the District and the booster organizations and/or clubs is to provide the best curricular and extracurricular programs to the students of the District. 2. Definition For purposes of this policy, a booster organization and/or club refers to any organization comprised of parents, community members, or others who choose to support a District sport or other extracurricular activity. Community based youth sports organizations, which are fully independent of the District and are not for the specific purpose of supporting District sports or extracurricular activities are not considered District booster organizations and/or clubs even if their activities may have a subsidiary effect of supporting District sports and extracurricular activities. 3. Authority The District, through its Administration, is responsible for establishing and enforcing guidelines to ensure that booster organizations and/or clubs are complying with applicable statutes, rules, regulations, bylaws, and policies. 4.
