The Event Experience October 11-12 / Koasati Pines at Grand Casino Coushatta This premier golfing experience is one of a kind. It is an opportunity to cultivate lasting business relationship with clients, prospects and business leaders - while funding the mission to end cancer. The event begins with an exclusive dinner and reception on Thursday evening, in addition to private rooms for all players at the Seven Clans Resort. Friday morning kicks off for players with a private breakfast. Player amenities also include a lunch reception, beverages and snacks on the course, green fees, carts, player gift packages and an awards ceremony. 2018 Honorary Chair, Austin Burk Austin Burk recently completed his sixth season as the head of the McNeese Cowboys golf program. His team has finished Second, First, First and Second in the last four years at the Southland Conference. Since his arrival in 2013 he has been a two-time Southland Conference Coach of the Year (2016 and 2017) as well as the 2016 Louisiana Coach of the Year. He has coached 12 All-SLC selections including five first teamers. The 2016 conference win was their first Southland Conference team championship in 36 years, winning by seven strokes, sending the team to its second consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. Prior to his arrival in Lake Charles, McNeese had never been to an NCAA Regional. Previously, Burk was an assistant coach at Baylor for three years and Rice for three years where he helped his teams advance to the NCAA regionals four times in six seasons. In 2012, Baylor standout Joakim Mikkelsen won the individual title. In his three year stint at Rice, Burk helped the Owls to their first NCAA post season appearance in 13 years. Burk was a member of the golf team at Baylor during his collegiate career, playing on the Bears 2001 Big 12 championship team. He won the Texas Collegiate Amateur title the same year and also qualified for the Permian Basin Open (now known as the web.com tour). Burk is a fifth generation Baylor graduate and a member of the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). He and his wife Amber have three children Caroline, Camille, and Andrew Austin Burk III. 2018 Honoree, Jeff Hunter Jeff Hunter is a 19 year employee of National Oilwell Varco and is the Director of US & Canada Sales for their Rig Technologies Land Group. He has also been an active member of the Fore a Cure Golf tournament for several years. In 2012, being treated for a kidney stone lead to the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. The surgeons made the decision to remove one end of his pancreas. After a successful surgery, physicians discovered cancer on his thyroid. He underwent two more surgeries and systemic radiation therapy and has been cancer free for over three years. He credits God, his friends and family, Dr. Henry Kaufman, Dr. Michael Cain and Dr. Justin Fontenot for the fortune of his health. Jeff was a member of the UL baseball team for one year and was an active member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. Since his graduation from UL, Jeff has remained a faithful fan and supporter of the University. Jeff is married to Christi Corley. They have three children, Tori, Matt and Grace. They currently live in Katy, Texas. He has been a volunteer coach for golf, volleyball, flag football, softball and ultimately - his children s biggest fan.
