Instruction - $20,000: Experts are an integral part of any successful band and guard program. We bring in professional musicians and conductors to challenge the Lakewood Ranch High School students to a higher level of knowledge and experience. 3. New Music - $6,300: In the pursuit of teaching the highest quality band repertoire, we are constantly updating and adding to our music library 4. Transportation - $10,000: We are responsible for all transportation costs to various festivals, concerts, parades, football games, reward trips, and education clinics. These funds are critical to help offset our growing transportation needs. 5. Uniforms - $10,000: Uniforms are necessary to help create a professional image to our band programs. Uniforms need to be dry cleaned, updated, replaced and repaired on an on-going basis. Background Statement The Lakewood Ranch Band Program cultivates a positive learning environment that not only gives students a quality musical education but also high morals and an optimistic attitude. Every aspect of the program is perfectly designed to educate the age and skill level of its students, from the beginner symphonic band to the marching band, which has placed in the top five bands in the state for the last 10 years, the Marching Mustangs. The Lakewood Ranch Band Program challenges and takes students beyond their own expectations of themselves, all while having fun learning new talents. Additionally, Lakewood Ranch Band Program instills discipline in its students. They practice for hours on end and put enthusiasm and passion into their work. Band is a community for students striving to find their identity and friendships. The students respect each other, their staff members, their director, and themselves. They are never alone in the band program. Most importantly, however, is that the Lakewood Ranch Band Program imparts a lifelong love of music. The students, director, and staff all enjoy the music, the marching, the concerts, and the practices. They work hard in a positive and safe environment and have fun doing the thing they love. Statement from the Board Chair Leadership. Responsibility. Teamwork. Respect. Discipline. Excellence. These are the things our young people gain as a part of their participation. Through their band family, our students find friendship, identity and comradery. They learn time management, sacrifice, flexibility, trust, compassion and resilience. They develop grit that will help make them top performers long after their high school band days are past. Our band families, members and alumni repeatedly share stories that remind us that the bands are so much more than just bands. Enhancing their opportunities requires extra resources, with much of the ongoing support coming from band families and community sponsors. Together we can enhance the student band experience and take it to new levels, with memories and skills that last will a lifetime. Please consider partnering with us. Statement from the CEO/Executive Director 2

With limited funds from Manatee County, we fully fund all of the 9

expenses for the competitive marching band show (music, uniforms, props, transportation, entry fees, etc.), as well as maintaining the cargo trailers, instruments and other equipment used. This is all done through fair-share student contributions and parent donations. Financial Comments by Foundation Financial information taken from the Federal 990s. 10
