Name f Psitin Orientatin Leader als knwn as an OL Psitin Overview As an OL wrking with first-year and transfer students, yu prvide leadership t new students, interact with family members, build relatinships with University Faculty and Staff and are a part f making an impact n incming classes all while develping yur leadership skills within a team envirnment. The OL serves as a leader, supprter, facilitatr and cach t all new students in an effrt t prvide a seamless transitin t FAU. As a team f 36 peple, we prvide high-quality educatin, supprt and transitin resurces t nearly 4,000 first year-students; 10,000 transfer students; and 2,500 family members and guests. Supervised By Danielle Shiflett and Dr. Katie Burke Start/End Date Training frm January 1, 2019 April 30, 2019 Psitin begins April 1, 2019 t January 31, 2020 Minimum Qualificatins Be a full-time, undergraduate, degree-seeking student wh has cmpleted a minimum f 12 credit hurs at FAU by the end f the Fall term. Have a cumulative grade pint average (GPA) f at least 2.75 at the time f applicatin This GPA must be maintained thrughut the psitin. Applicants wh apply befre cmpleting 12 hurs may be hired n a cnditinal basis until final grades are psted. Applicants must be in gd academic standing. Cmpensatin Have respectful engagement with diverse grup f peple including the Orientatin Leader team, students, families, guests, faculty, staff, and administratrs. Attend a 4-hur ADL Campus f Difference Diversity Training (Part f the Student Affairs & Enrllment Management Cre Training Prgram). Yu will be paid a ttal f $2300 ver the curse f the summer emplyment, with an additinal $200 flex bucks t use frm May August. Yu will be paid hurly at $10 an hur fr April & fall emplyment. Accmmdatins Yu will be assigned a rm and will be required t reside there fr the summer term (May-August). This may invlve having ne r mre rmmates depending n the residence hall we are assigned t. The cst f husing (apprx. $3000) will be cvering by the Office f New Student Orientatin. Meals During First-Year Student Orientatin, Lunch and Dinner n Day 1 and Breakfast n Day 2 will be prvided. All ther meals are the respnsibility f the OL. Unifrm OLs will be prvided with 2 f the fllwing: 2 Pl s and a Team T- shirt. In additin, OLs will receive an fficial nametag, backpack, and a jacket. Nte: The OL is respnsible fr prviding the khaki bttms and clsed-te shes as part f the unifrm.
Psitin Terms & Cnditins Cmpensatin OLs will be paid a stipend bi-weekly, receive husing in a FAU residence hall fr summer (May beginning f August), meals during sessin and a unifrm. Length f Experience Summer first-year student rientatin sessins run June-August, with additinal sessins ffered prir t the start f spring classes in January. Transfer Orientatin sessins run frm April August, with additinal sessins ffered in Nvember-January. All dates and times prvided n the OL Cntract are subject t change depending n the finalizatin f the University calendar and Orientatin Planning. Husing While living n campus, OL s are expected t abide by all plicies and prcedures set frth by Husing and Residential Educatin. In additin, OLs (n matter what age) agree t refrain frm bringing, string, cnsuming alchl/illegal substances n campus including their persnal residence hall rm. Further, new students (including thse wh start in summer r fall) will nt be allwed in the OL residence hall at any time. Leadership Class 2019 All Orientatin Leaders are required t enrll in LDR 2010: Orientatin Leader sectin n Campus in the spring f 2019, which will take place n Mndays frm 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m. The curse must be cmpleted with a grade f a B r better in rder t remain n the Orientatin Team. Orientatin Sessins OLs are required t participate in all Orientatin Sessins fr First-Year Students. During First-Year Orientatin, the Sessin is divided int 3: Day 0 (day befre), Day 1, and Day 2. Orientatin Leaders are expected t participate in all aspects f the sessin and have n utside cmmitments. OL s are required t be n campus starting n Day 0 at 9 p.m. thrugh 6 p.m. n Day 2. OLs are als required t participate in assigned Transfer Orientatins, which will be assigned in April fr the summer term and September fr the fall term. Perfrmance There will be three frmal perfrmance review times: At the cmpletin f May training, after the first 6 sessins, and at the cmpletin f summer. The purpse f these reviews are t prvide critical feedback n verall jb perfrmance. In additin, each OL will participate in an exit interview at the cmplete f the psitin. SROW Suthern Reginal Orientatin Wrkshp will be held n March 15-17. The registratin fees will be cvered 50% and the htel and transprtatin fees will be cvered 100%.
Summer Class/Wrk Given the time cmmitment f the Orientatin Leader psitin, OLs are nt allwed t take summer classes r have an additinal jb. During the Spring and Fall semester, ther emplyment is allwed, but must NOT cnflict with training, rientatin sessins, etc. Spring 2019 Training Dates Training will ccur Mndays and Fridays starting n January 9. Mnday Training will take place the entire Spring Semester frm 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Friday Training will be frm 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. until March 15, and then 2 p.m. 4 p.m. until the end f the spring semester. Additinally, the Orientatin Leader retreat will be January 20-21, 2019. Training OL are expected t be at all f the training dates prvided n the OL Cntract. Additinal training dates may be added as needed. Training is nt ptinal and is required t serve in this psitin.
