Around the world, four billion people live in villages and with increase in purchasing power and the demand for wide variety of products, the rural market offers new and great opportunities. The rural market cannot be tapped successfully with an urban marketing mindset and would definitely require its thorough understanding. In other words, the approach towards rural markets need to be distinct from the one adopted for the urban markets. Therefore, these days rural marketing has emerged as an important and distinct internal sub-division within the marketing discipline. For the past decade, business visionaries have argued that people in rural areas who are also known as the Base of the Pyramid, make up an enormous, untapped market. Some of the world's biggest, savviest corporations have aimed to address their basic needs by selling them everything from clean water to electricity and from FMCG to consumer durables. Keeping in view the immense opportunities and changing scenarios in Rural Markets of developing economies, NIESBUD is organizing One day International Symposium on Rural Marketing: Global Issues and Challenges on 30 th July 2016 under Global Knowledge Exchange Forum/ Network. The main objective of International Symposium is to facilitate knowledge transfer from various International Delegates (from different countries visiting India to attend International Training Programmes namely, International Marketing & Global Competitiveness and Rural Enterprise Promotion & Planning held at NIESBUD campus) to Indians and vice versa. The International Symposium on Rural Marketing: Global Issues and Challenges is must attend for: Academicians Researchers

Students Marketers Business Leaders Trainers Policy makers, Consultants, etc to exchange their knowledge, information and experiences with the International delegates as well as learn from their country specific varied skills, know-how and expertise. Registration There are two ways to become part of this International Symposium: 1) Presentation on any topic/ research related to Rural marketing and encourage a live discussion regarding the presented topic and network with other experts in the related areas, from around the globe. The Certificate of Excellence on Subject Matter shall be provided to all the Presenters. Presenters will be given 10 minutes of time for presentation, followed by live discussion. 2) Attending it and becoming part of live discussions for knowledge transfer and enhancement. The Certificate of Participation shall be awarded. Distinguished Policymakers from Industry and Academia are invited for Panel Discussions.
