Telemedicine connects patients with U.S. based, board certified doctors through phone, video or secure email to diagnose and treat common conditions including prescribing medication if needed. Who is AmeriDoc? AmeriDoc is a Dallas-based company and a leader in Telemedicine. The proprietary AmeriDoc platform connects doctors and patients utilizing secure communication. Encounters with AmeriDoc will be logged in the patient s portal including medical history, doctor s notes and a complete recording of the consultation. Why am I being offered AmeriDoc? AmeriDoc is a great complement to your healthcare coverage. High Quality Care: AmeriDoc provides a superior patient experience with quality care. Convenience: An average doctor s visit often takes you away from work or home for four hours. The average call-back time from an AmeriDoc physician is 23 minutes. Value: Healthcare savings to both the employee and employer. Urgent Care visits average $130 and ER visits average $1,300 How does it work? All employees will be registered in the AmeriDoc platform. When you need a doctor, call AmeriDoc at 877-556- 3669. A bi-lingual medical assistant will record your personal information, medical history, preferred pharmacy and current symptoms. Only the medical assistant, doctor and patient will have access to this record. You will be connected with a doctor licensed in the state you are located in with an average call-back time of 23 minutes. After reviewing your history and symptoms, the doctor will create a treatment plan that may include prescribing medication. Why does it work? Most diagnoses occur following a patient s responses to questions from a physician. Physical exams often confirm these answers. If a physical examination is required to definitively confirm a diagnosis, the doctor will refer you to a primary care physician or urgent care facility. Will my answers over the phone be good enough? Studies show that patients are more comfortable answering questions in the comfort of their home or workplace. Answers tend to be more complete than when in an exam room. There are other advantages. For instance, a patient can review all medications visually in their home rather than rely on their memory. How often can an illness be treated through AmeriDoc? Studies show about 70% of all conditions resulting in a doctor visit can be treated through AmeriDoc. (Examples below)
5 When can I contact AmeriDoc and receive a consultation? 24/7/365 (including holidays) Will I get a prescription following my diagnosis? As with any doctor consultation, it is up to the doctor s clinical judgment to create a treatment plan that may or may not include prescribing medication. If the doctor prescribes medication, where will it be filled? When speaking with the medical assistant for the first time, your preferred pharmacy will be recorded. If you don t know your preferred pharmacy, the medical assistant will provide a list of pharmacies within a three-mile radius of your zip code for your selection. If you are traveling, a medical assistant will locate a nearby pharmacy. What types of prescriptions are filled? Common prescriptions include antibiotics, chronic illness medication (one-time refill), anti-inflammatory, antihistamines, cough remedies, anti-virals, topical ointments, acne, anti-fungal, inhalers, allergy medications and others. What types of prescriptions are not offered: Controlled substances, lifestyle drugs (ED requires monitoring for underlying issues), birth control (requires a negative pregnancy test), smoking cessation and others. Can I get prescriptions filled to manage chronic conditions? At the physician s judgment, a prescription can be re-filled on a one-time basis. Your PCP should manage ongoing treatment of chronic conditions. Will I get a doctor s excuse to be absent from work? No, your consultation will be clinical only. Leave policy is between you and your employer. Why does it take a few minutes to be connected to the doctor? AmeriDoc will notify the appropriate doctor in your state that he/she has a pending consult. The doctor must review your personal information, history and symptoms prior to calling you. This optimizes use of your time and allows the doctor to be fully prepared for the consult. If you are simply seeking information, it is not necessary for the doctor to review history as they will not be making a diagnosis. In these cases the doctor will be connected to you directly. Examples of informational consults could include questions about the illness of a loved one, questions about new drugs and treatments or questions about allergic relations. What types of doctors are available? Internists, Family Practice Physicians, Pediatricians, ER, Urgent Care, Naturopathic and others depending on the state.
